I have to ask, did you watch the celebration in it's entirety? I did and I must say in context with all the speakers I didn't see what everyone is up in arms about.

It's amazing that Bush and his administration has stated they would not want to be caught up in hypotheticals. This, I would say, is the mother of hypotheticals. No one knows how things would have turned out.

Yes we should hold the Dems to a higher standard, but my point is you're letting the Dems determine when your standards are in question. For example, is a vague statement worthy of punishment or the actual act?

I'm of the mind that the real issue is getting him for past ills than what supposedly was the problem at a birthday celebration.

We'll respectfully disagree on this one. I do not want Lott to be railroaded over a vague statement and become a trophy for the Left.

Lott is not being railroaded, he brought this on himself. His homage to Thurmond as Dixiecrat wasn't vague, it was stupefyingly ill-advised at best. He had opportunities to get out in front of this early, and failed, and failed, and failed again.

Playing revisionist (to give Trent the benefit of the doubt) with the Dixiecrats is a hobby better suited for fringe-types, not our Senate Majority Leader.
