True, RG, about the "up-and-comers" in Park Forest. The classic 1950s book, "The Organization Man" focused on Park Forest. But the way the town was built from scratch, with the now closed mall in the center of it all, the concept of that is just a little too socialist for me. I think, like asbestos, the primordial ideas of socialism have seeped into the Herbies of Park Forest.

I lived in Chicago Heights in the late 60s / early 70s. I remember hanging out in Park Forest when we were in high school and when someone found out we were from "da Heights", we'd usually get a comment like "We're being invaded by greasers!" To us, Park Forest was always Liberalland, U.S.A. but Herbie seems to have gone beyond the pale; I wonder if he really believes any of this crap himself.
