Mark my words: This is the beginning of the Gore '08 campaign. After Kerry, Edwards, or that Vermont governor gets clobbered by Bush in 2004, the Dems will be looking for a "white knight" to redeem them in 2008. Gore is a goof, but not a complete moron. He believes that he only needs to be patient...he'll only be in his early '60s in '08.
