Jimmy Carter was a nuclear scientist...

He was not a nuclear scientist. He was a reactor officer in the US Navy who was passed over (not promoted) three times and forced out.

In his book, In the Shadow of the Ayatollah, William J. Daugherty, a former Marine who joined the CIA and was among those held hostage by the Iranians, noted that "Iran under the shah commenced an extensive modernization program while adopting a staunchly pro-West, anticommunist political posture." When Carter withdrew his support, the shah was forced to flee and the fires of Islamic fanaticism were lighted, leading ultimately to 9-11. Iran, today, is among President Bush´s triumvirate of the "Axis of Evil." Iranians, to their credit, are in the streets seeking to overthrow the ayatollahs who deny them the freedoms we take for granted.

This is so true. A physician in my father's group, who has since passed, was an Iranian who fled just after the Shah (as did many). This was a horrific blunder on Carter's part-he is not willing to take a stand to defend freedom, he figures it is free.

Harry Truman, the President who thwarted the North Korean invasion in the 1950s said it best. "Freedom is still expensive. It still costs money. It still costs blood. It still calls for courage and endurance, not only in soldiers, but in every man and woman who is free and who is determined to remain free."

Truman the one democrat that I admire..

Carter is an example of the" Peter principle" at work

I thought Jimmuh always pronounced it "nookee-er". I always expected him to tell the Soviets that "Our bombs are nukeyer than your bombs".

The Swedes don't dole out the Nobels. The Norwegians do. Carter is, however, not in touch with reality, regardless of what country he's in or whose doling out the phony awards.

Considering all of his OTHER actions, DUH Peanut Man is more interested in defending dictators like Castro, Yasser and even Saddam than in defending freedom.

Mr. Carter will surely burn in hell for his giving up of the American Funded Building of the Panama Canal.

Do you think God cares who controls the Panama Canal?

The last straw for me was when Jimmah criticized the U.S. Penal system and the Death Penalty while visiting that idyllic paradise, Cuba.

And the Shah was a democratic leader?

Well, it says a lot about the American people when they vote a box of rocks into public office.

I wish I was stupid enough to become President of the United States of America.

(I get annoyed by journalism like this. In the same way as I get annoyed by journalism that suggests that George W. Bush is stupid)

I just love the title of your article. The actual content is irrelevant because the title says it all.

I actually think it's insulting to rocks. Say what you want about boxes of rocks, darling, but at least they're quiet and don't cause trouble on their own.

Jimmy Carter yammered all the live long bloody day and messed up the American economy. A box of rocks would have been preferable.

Jimmy Carter was regarded as "book smart" in some ways - one can be certain he can recite every UN resolution by heart. But that kind of intelligence doesn't always translate into practical results. Immobilising stupidity is preferable to pseudo-intellectualism.

Love, Ivan

The most recent winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Jimmy Carter, is dumber than a box of rocks.

I agree 100%. Thanks for the continued posts...... :-)

I guess the MANY Conservative non-Bushbots on these boards would agree with you.

Peanut only got elected in '76 because he was the first Democrat to run against the horribly-tainted Nixon/Ford administration. Jimmy was elected because of Watergate.

Had the Republican Party not succumbed to its old habit of nominating the guy "whose turn it is", in this case Gerald Ford, and gone with Reagan four years earlier, Carter's tragic, failed presidency might have been avoided, together with his self-righteous and annoying POST-presidency.
