Arlington, Texas has been a real hot-bed of Islamist problems. As you know, Arlington's located about 30 miles from Dallas. It's long overdue to crack down on the al-Queda/Hamas/Hezbollah connections. And Houston should be next.

4 arrested in InfoCom probe

12/18/2002

By JIM DOUGLAS / WFAA-TV

Federal agents arrested four people early Wednesday morning in connection with an investigation into a Richardson computer company.

InfoCom is being investigated for possible ties to terrorism funding.

One Infocom employee has already been sentenced for illegal exporting to the Middle East.

Video: Jim Douglas reports

InfoCom was the target of a three-day search by a federal terrorism task force in early September 2001.

Infocom provided Web support for Islamic groups around the world and its offices were across the street from the Holy Land Foundation, which was also investigated by federal authorities.

The Holy land Foundation was closed in December 2001 after the Treasury Department accused it of being a front for the terrorist group Hamas.

More information on the arrested is expected Wednesday afternoon from a news conference with the U.S. attorney general, the Justice Department and the FBI.

I know they said they were heading to San Antonio, but I wonder if the "shaved-body" guys who were taken off the train soon after the 9/11 attacks, (Arrested Men's Shaved Bodies Drew Suspicion of the F.B.I. , Sep 12, 2001) have any connection to this breaking story...
[Khan and Azmath] were taken off the train in Fort Worth on Sept. 12, they told police officers they were headed for San Antonio to visit a friend and start a fruit stand.

The report said Mr. Azmath quickly denied any role in the terrorist attacks, saying, "I did not have anything to do with New York."

But the report, prepared by a Fort Worth police sergeant, Brad S. Johnson, ticked off several other reasons why the men, who boarded the train in St. Louis after their flight was grounded, seemed suspicious.

The report said the police officers, who were working on an antidrug task force, were interested in the men because they had bought their tickets at the last minute with cash, a practice common among drug couriers. Both men were asleep when the train arrived in Fort Worth, Sergeant Johnson noted. Once the police awakened them, an artery on Mr. Azmath's neck began "visibly pulsating" and his forehead got sweaty, while Mr. Kahn's(sic) hands trembled, the report said.

It also said the men had receipts showing that they had received money transfers, although the officials would not say who had sent the money or how much was involved. ...

Two boxcutters and $2,400 of the cash were in a new black briefcase with a combination lock that belonged to Mr. Kahn. In addition to the pocket knife, the report said, Mr. Azmath carried nearly $3,200 in cash and photocopies of multiple passports depicting him in various guises: with a full beard; a mustache; and clean shaven, both with and without glasses. Yet, the report said, Mr. Azmath answered "no" when asked if he was carrying knives or a large amount of money.

YCT Demands Ron Kirk Donate Contribution from Convicted Felon & Terrorist Bagman to Charity for Victims of Terrorism

Infocom is closely linked to the non-profit Holy Land Foundation (HLF), which was chartered by Elashyi's brother and fellow Infocom principle Ghassan Elashyi.  Infocom had its assets frozen last December by the Treasury Department because of the group's ties to terrorist organizations.  Curiously, Infocom has owned the domain name binladen.com since August 1997.

Former FBI Dep Asst Director Danny Coulson is on Fox News saying "we've known about this and have been investigating this since 1994, but the Justice Dept. wouldn't let us go forward because they were a religious organization.... It was very frustrating."

Thanks for the info and link.

This company and Holy Land Foundation are in my own backyard, too. About 15 minutes down the road from my house.....

I've got a friend who wrote a paper about Muslim militants in Arlington ten years ago, even before WTC I. He was prompted to write by the transformation of a friend who joined up with one of the groups. She went from being Jane American-of-Muslim-Heritage to a heavily armed and PO'd Muslim militant. They were very candid about their cache of arms and hatred for the US. Even then, they were talking openly of their plans to wage war on the US. UT-Arlington is lousy with US-hating 3rdworlders. Don't remember the guy's name, but a close associate of OBL, linked to WTC I, was arrested in Arlington. Or was arrested somewhere else, credited with being from Arlington.

I can't remember his name either, but he was a secretary to OBL and transfered funds for him to various terrorist activities. He was arrested and went to trial very shortly after 9/ll. The sentence was life in prison with no parole. (Dang, wish we could remember the name!)

I want to include the new Mosque being built in Irving, Texas north of 183. Not much has been posted on this building but this is something I feel needs to be monitored until we know what its ties are! Especially since not much is known about it!
