PRO-LIFE WOMAN FACES INDICTMENT FOR READING BIBLE [to abortionist]

The U.S. Attorney's office will convene a grand jury in order to seek an indictment against a local pro-life activist, Terri Palmquist. Mrs. Palmquist's alleged offense is threatening abortionist Kenneth Wright by reading passages of the Bible to him.

On July 9, 2002, Mrs. Palmquist, who regularly leaflets and counsels at the Family Planning Alternatives abortuary, saw Wright entering the clinic and read to him passages from Ezekiel 33 concerning admonishing the evildoer to turn from his sins lest he die. Although Wright has seen Mrs. Palmquist at the clinic for years and did not appear concerned at the time, he reported the incident to police and the FBI as a death threat despite Mrs. Palmquist's explanation to him that she meant no threat.

Wright also sought a restraining order against Mrs. Palmquist, trying to prevent her from coming within 150 yards of him or the clinic. After a three-hour hearing at which Wright testified about Mrs. Palmquist's alleged threatening activities, Judge Wallace of the Kern County Superior Court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to warrant issuing any order against Mrs. Palmquist and dismissed Wright's case.

In spite of this vindication of Mrs. Palmquist, the FBI has continued to hound her and anyone associated with her, seeking evidence that she is violent and a threat to Wright. On Dec. 19 Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Escobar, acting under U.S. Attorney John Vincent, will present this "evidence" to a grand jury in hopes of having Mrs. Palmquist indicted on felony charges. At this time the specific charges are a matter of speculation. "They will either seek an indictment for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act or some alleged terrorist threat," stated Brian Chavez-Ochoa, who has taken Mrs. Palmquist's case on behalf of Life Legal Defense Foundation.

"Are pro-lifers too dense to get it, or do they just self rightiously think they deserve to be treated better than any one else?"

No, you dont get it Servant of the Nine. It was only a threat to someone that has a guilty conscience and in no way was it a physical threat such as the Muslims pose. To not see that clear difference is to be deliberately ignorant.
Repent or you will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire prepared for the Devil and his angels. There did I threaten you or just speak the truth. Your attempt to confuse the issue is not flying with me.

What was the crime? Before you want to give her the time???

Over 60,000 men and women who wanted to spare pregnant woman from a lifetime of regret and possible physical injury and help her learn to love and care for her child were more than willing to go to jail -- some were beaten - Catholic bishops were stripped searched and you have the gall to write such a remark??

Where did the story say she was on the abortionist's property?

If she had been on his property she would have been charged with trespassing.

Contrast that with an uninvited "sermon" from somebody on the street, or trespassing on your private property. While walking down the street, or to my legal business, I would not expect to have someone walk up and tell me "I am going to die for what I am doing" or whatnot.

Your reasoning then must also apply to the anti-smoking zealots, anti-war protesters, etc. etc. etc.

Don't forget the Catholic priest - who just knelt in SILENT PRAYER outside a Buffalo abortionist. He was jailed for four months in federal prison.

I think Christians are in for big time persecution

Well, in "Amazing Grace" they declare themselves "wretches"..
That's kind of asking for it. ;-)

"If you can't do the time, don't do the crime".

Last I checked, people who don't support mutilating unborn babies have a right to state their views. It's called the First Amendament. It's not a crime to state a view. The view she stated is that of God. She is just the messenger. Apparently it is you that is threatend by Him and His message. In no way shape or form is she as a mere mortal threatening anyone with those Words from God.

"Are pro-lifers too dense to get it, or do they just self rightiously think they deserve to be treated better than any one else?"

No, it's actually people like YOU that "don't get it." No one who speaks against abortion feels "self righteous" but do believe the unborn does deserve to be treated as the person they are - not having it's limbs sucked off and dismembered till death is a relief.

Ever see an abortion? Look at the pictures. There is nothing "compassionate" about that. It's pure evil. This woman is only trying to warn, not threaten, what the end result of giving permission for infantcide is - eeternal life in hell. This woman should be exaulted for trying to save a person from hell.

As to why you are so intolerant towards someones legal right to voice their views through words is beyond me. Maybe you ought to get right with God and have some peace in your life. It's ibvious to me that you are a malcontent eager to state YOUR views but others are to remain silent on theirs. It's so typical of the godless and intolerant, self absorbed.

This "Servant of the Nine" is paranoid. There's no telling what words will set him off. Who knows, maybe he has a conscience after all. Liberatarians are typically godless people which is why they have no moral rudder upon which to use to guide them through life. I've yet to meet a happy Liberaltarian. They're typically a miserable lot.

Yes, this was the case I was alluding to in the responses to the various posters. It appears that harsh and unjust punishments are being meted out to those who hold opinions that are considered politically incorrect and/or unpopular for the purpose of, first, punishing those who hold them, and, second, intimidating those who hold similar views, the ultimate goal being the quashing of dissent. For those with the eyes to see, this is a classic symptom of a society going down the long and dreary road to tyranny and oppression. If there are libertarians out there who read this, you should be at the head of the line in condemning these official acts.

Well, we know how wretched our lives were and can be without Christ. The persecution comes when Christ is reflected in your daily lives or when you stand up for what's right. It's only going to get worse but God has promised to be right in the fray with us. Happy New Year, Humblegunner!
