Arizona's incoming governor hopes to defuse tensions over vigilantism at the border by inviting all sides to talk it out.
Border Action Network, a Tucson-based human rights group, released a report Wednesday calling newly formed civilian militias law-breaking puppets of national White-supremacist organizations, and it demanded state and federal investigations.
Leaders of the militias countered that they're patrolling the border because the federal government has jeopardized national security by failing to stop illegal immigration.
Border Action Network members delivered the report to state Attorney General Janet Napolitano, who will take office as governor in three weeks.
Napolitano had not yet read the report but wants to reduce animosity at the border, spokeswoman Kris Mayes said Wednesday.
"The best thing right now for everyone is to ratchet down the rhetoric," Mayes said. "The governor-elect would like to call all the stakeholders very early in her tenure for a dialogue to find a solution to this problem."
Napolitano opposes civilians acting as law-enforcers but believes landowners at the border have a right to feel protected by the federal government, Mayes said. Napolitano won't meet with anybody she deems an extremist, Mayes added.
Wednesday in Tucson, U.S. Rep.-elect Raul Grijalva said he will ask the FBI to investigate alleged links between civilian militias and White-supremacist groups. "If you shine the light on the cockroaches, they don't like it," Grijalva said.
Federal authorities in Arizona said they would investigate any group breaking federal laws but would not comment on past or potential investigations.
< /p> Terry Goddard, former Phoenix mayor and attorney general-elect, said he had not seen the report but recognized there's a "potentially dangerous" situation brewing in Cochise County.

To Janet 'Reno' Napolitano's stooge:
Wrong! The best thing right now for Americans is to seal the f'ing border!!! And you can ratchet that rhetoric right up your rectum.
I don't suppose they provided proof for their allegations. For the left, it sufficies to just make the claim and leave it at that...
As opposed to actually being protected?
Stupid woman. Typical government comment, always playing the race card, with no mention of the real lawbreakers or the fact that the federal government refuses to enforce existing border and immigration laws.

And so it begins. The incoming Napolitano administration will wring its hands over the lack of funding for biotech, but, according to The Business Journal, our new guv wants about a half-million dollars to open a lobbying office in D.C.
The justification?
According to Napolitano's press secretary, a former Arizona Republic reporter, it's to get more dollars out of Washington.
The highly respected and nonpartisan Tax Foundation (http://taxfoundation.org/taxspending.html), says Arizona already gets more tax dollars out of the federal government than it sends $1.12 per $1.00. It's currently ranked in the middle of all states, at No. 25.
Sure, the state's excess receipts are dropped from a decade ago, but we still (as of the most recent statistics available) get a 12 percent surplus.
Proponents of more government dependence point out that Arizona "contributes more tax dollars than it receives back in (some) areas, such as health care."
I'm not sure how many federal tax dollars we pay for health care beyond Medicare taxes, and I've never heard that Arizona seniors receive less Medicare coverage than seniors in other states.
Apparently, neither have the lobby proponents, since all they can cite is Arizona's ranking about in the middle, at 27th for National Institute of Health funding.
As The Business Journal points out, Arizona's senators and congressional delegation support sensible government spending and oppose pork-barrel projects that gouge other taxpayers. Looks like our new governor will try to undermine their efforts. Is this any way to start off a new administration?
During the campaign, people wondered if Napolitano was just using the statehouse as a stepping stone to a senate seat in Washington. As her plan seems to focus on D.C., and ignore legitimate state issues such as biotech development, it looks like she's playing leap frog instead.

This was done with the help of SPLC, although their contributors are listed individually. Also has complaints from Isable Garcia, oh whaaaaaaa.
Read the PDF file Here is a .pdf of the report Border Action Network will be turning over to Napolitano and Terry Goddard when they take office. BAN is the "new" name for these guys.
What is the difference between a dairy farmer and the SPLC?
The dairy farmer only spreads a batch of manure once...
Yes, we've noticed that, particularly with Rats and traitors.
Back before tha Arizona GAZETTE, the Afternoon paper went belly up , we referred to that entire fish wrap operation as the RAG!!
We haven't "taken" that paper for the last 17 years!
