OK, I did a little research for those who care.

Tennessee Right to Life lists Columbia/HCA as one general corporation that supports abortion.

From the St. Antoninus web site they list HCA=Health Care as pro-abortion, and site where they obtained the information.

HCA (SEE COLUMBIA/HCA) PP3,9,10,20, 28
9 - FOUNDATION GRANT INDEX 94 PP
10 -CORPORATE 500 DIRECTORY OF CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY 93-94
20 - CORPORATION 500 - DIRECTORATE OF CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY
28 - GRANTS INDEX 1999

Dr. Tiller specializes in 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions and is the medical director for HCA Wesley in Wichita, KS. See his website HERE and the fact that it is affiliated with HCA HERE

I have to go now, but I'll do some more research ... I think the above three information sources speak VOLUMES about HCA's pro-abortion services.

Bill Frist, divest yourself now, for the sake of the unborn.

Excellent research. Time to call Sen. Frist's offices (in D.C. and Tenn.) and query the office staff if they are aware of this genuine problem and then demand that the Senator divest himself of his Columbia/HCA investments.

Check to see if HCA is a hospital administration service or a hospital ownership entity. Does it have a variety of public and private hospitals? Do public hospitals have a legal requirement to perform any legal medical procedure?

Some Baptist systems also have religious health-care policies, typically banning "elective" abortions, but not contraception or sterilizations. The Georgia Baptist Health Care System insisted that a 1995 joint venture agreement with the for-profit Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. include a ban on "elective" abortions at Columbia’s 18 hospitals and other medical facilities in Georgia.

It is very instructive that HCA enters into agreements with hospitals to provide administrative oversight. They do more than just OWN hospitals.

Now, the question is this. In joint ventures with "public" hospitals which receive tax money, would they be allowed to prevent abortions being performed SINCE abortions are legal. I'm almost certain I remember a ruling that a public hospital cannot refuse to perform a legal procedure which it is qualified and has the facilities to perform.

I still think the Jeffreys article is,to be kind, flawed. Old Terry can sell more papers if he sturs the pot. And they do love stew inside the Beltway. You give credence to his report, I do not. Terry is good at innuendo, short on connecting his dots. Afraid I feel the same about the sites you provided.

FoxNews reporting that Senator Frist will be elected Senate Majority Leader as early as next Monday. Frist is a good man - a man of conviction - a man of his word IMHO. Since you feel he should divest himself of his ownership in HCA, you should express your concerns directly.

Here is his contact info:

Washington, D.C. Office of Senator Bill Frist
416 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
202-224-3344
202-228-1264 (fax)

Nashville: Office of Senator Bill Frist
28 White Bridge Road, Suite 211
Nashville, TN 37205
615-352-9411
615-352-9985 (fax)

E-mail contact can be made through his website: http://frist.senate.gov

With his new duties, he will be busier than ever. If he is the man I think he is, he will hear you out. Be civil;-)
