I place very little value on children born into these circumstances.I place very little value on people who place very little value on children born into those circumstances.
In fact, I place you in the same phylum as nematodes.

QUESTION: Can someone please explain to me why a young woman would choose abortion over carrying the child to term and putting it up for adoption?
Is it the discomfort/pain of pregnancy and childbirth? The altered body? Most of the time it is purely for selfish reasons. I have heard over and over the same argument of "but I just couldn't have a baby inside of me for 9 months and then just give it up. That would hurt me too much".
To: MatthewViti
That's one of Gods choices...to decide to have me born. It wasn't my choice.

Relax, it has racial menaing because the left embraces abortion and cringes at the sound of vouchers.
The right, us including Trent Lott, want all American women to stop killing their babies and allow them the choice of where to send their kids to school.
At least some of us want that.

No. You think it has racial meaning. I think that NO child regardless of color should be killed. NO CHILD.

Actions have consequences. Consequences sometimes cause pain. Pain is negative feedback that will curtail in some cases repetition of the mistake that caused the pain. Remove the pain and you almost guarantee that undesirable behaviors will be repeated.
The state should tell the lady, Ebony, and everyone else in her situaion, you have the following choices:
1. Keep the baby and provide for it with no help from the state (your taxpaying neighbors). Your success at getting the sperm donor to marry you and help with the finances and child-rearing is your problem and no one else's.
2. Put the baby up for adoption.

QUESTION: Can someone please explain to me why a young woman would choose abortion over carrying the child to term and putting it up for adoption? One of the big pro-family groups (I forget if it was FRC or NRTL) did a survey on this. Women in crisis pregancies want the crisis to be over: ie, to make a decision. The problem with adoption is, to women in a crisis pregnancy situation it feels like adoption just extends the crisis, because their baby will be "out there" and they will always wonder about the child. In contrast, abortion or deciding to keep a child feels very final. Many women in the survey said they would rather abort than put a child up for adoption, as they felt guilty for abandoning the child and worried the child might be abused. (Yes, I know it's dumb to think of killing a baby as the caring option, but this is what the survey found.)
The sad thing is it shows a lack of understanding of modern adoption options (such as open adoption) and has created an almost total inability for an infertile couple of moderate means to adopt (foreign adoptions and private adoptions are both very, very expensive.) Not to mention all the data showing a stable two parent home is far and away the best environment physically, emotionally, intellectually and economically for a child. Right now, only about 2 percent of women in a crisis pregnancy situation opt to put the baby up for adoption. The rest either abort or raise the child, can't remember the exact number but it was pretty much half and half.

Last century (about ten years ago?) The Wichita Eagle Newspaper quoted an abortion counselor as telling a pre-teen client that a "fetus doesn't really come together until you're about eight months along." After the abortion the pre-teen girl was put on birth control pills...

Thanks for the detailed reply. Sounds like serious counseling would go a long way here.

If Trent Lott had come out swinging In some parallel universe, perhaps?
More like an oblique universe. :)

Unless the 'sperm donor' becomes a man and supports his own kid. Or even better, the mother matures enough to allow someone else to adopt her child.
To: Drew68
Abortion are NOT safe. Women still die from legal abortions. Many more (33%) have complications that require followup medical care. These complications can result in problems with future pregnancies, like ectopic pregnancies and premature births.
and then there are the psycological problems. Women becoming depressed, turning to drugs, alcohol and other self-destructive behavior.

I don't necessarily mean the one above in the link, but here's another one that needs help:
The Human Life Foundation,Inc.

New York, NY 10016
They also have an outstanding Journal Review, which seems to accompany any donations.
In fact, I will match any pledges up to 100 dollars total that you make me aware of, to any pro-life organization, meaning $100 total.
Let's save some lives.

I couldn't agree more but unfortunately it will never happen. The state must always remain politically correct (barf).

Something about the story suggests that the counselor was one of the most informed and educated ones they had.
These Planned Parenthood and NARAL people are absolutely strange. None of them are put together correctly from the get-go, and then they want everybody else to join them in their fantasies.
Frankly, I think their interest is in playing with strange women, whether directly, or vicariously as they think about the abortionist killing the baby and titilating the woman in some manner. Their supporting cast of judges and politicians are probably into the same game.

behaviors are not deserving of state protection. Excellent ponits! Actually, if you had come out with these points earlier, you might have given Lott ideas with which to work with, Where were you on that 1,000 post thread about Trent Lott?
People DO read FR, ya know.
