Harare - Zimbabwe has accused Britain of recruiting Zimbabweans into the British army to violently oust President Robert Mugabe from power, the state-controlled Sunday Mail reported.
The paper, quoting unnamed security sources, said those recruited included ex-Zimbabwean soldiers who "could be used in a military offensive against Zimbabwe should Britain execute its plan to topple the government".
The Zimbabwe government often accuses former colonial power Britain of supporting opposition parties, organisations and journalists in a bid to overthrow the government. Britain denies the charges.
"The recruitment of our nationals by the British just shows how desperate they are," Information Minister Jonathan Moyo told the paper.
He said the matter was receiving the government's attention "to ensure that our national interest is not compromised", and that Zimbabweans who joined the British army would risk losing their citizenship. - Sapa- AFP
I know - patience, patience. The ship's headed for the rocks anyhow.
That line alone should cause a run on the Brit's recruiting offices.
