Don't want to pay real estate taxes? Rent.
Real estate taxes are set by the county, pick a different county.
If you have land, run some livestock and get the ag rate.
There are many ways to lower your tax rate in Texas, you just have to be smarter than the average Coloradan.

The saying is, "in Texas everything either stinks, sticks, stings or strikes". One of my friends in Colorado says that Texas is "a great place to keep oil". I just want to find a way to spend the hot part of the summer in the mountains. Texas is just fine the rest of the time.
