This story only serves to re-inforce my decision not to fly unless it is an absolute emergency. I am not concerned about terrorists, I am concerned over my reaction to the new "Federal Terrorists" that were previously at best 7/11 employees. I know me and I would be in jail in a country heart beat if one of those federalized rent a cops put a hand on me.

I agree -- I love to fly but am avoiding the airports as much as I possibly can these days. I'm rather happy about United going down and am looking forward to some more of these bloated quasi-governmental non-customer-service-oriented bureaucracy's joining them in chapter eleven.
But even without the lousy overpriced service and gestapo-like security - against harmless, mostly caucasian citizens, not middle-eastern-males-mostly-under-the-age-of-forty, I stay out of the airport because the more people traveling the more it stresses the system which cannot accommodate the numbers of passengers that use it. I would think that in a sane world the public would be being discouraged from getting in the way. I think it is the patriotic thing to do - to not fly unless there is an overriding need to do so.

You have revealed enough about yourself to fully vindicate the zero tolerance policy in airport security.
