WOD = WOT. Make taxes high enough, and a black market will always arise.

Here in south FL, there have been dozens of convenience store break-ins where only cigarettes by the case were stolen.

That doesn't surprise me. A few months ago I was waiting in a somewhat long line of a convenience store and made note of the per-carton price of cigarettes, and then of the number of cartons of cigarettes behind the counter. A little math revealed that I was looking at almost $40,000!

I found myself wondering why these places weren't being knocked over regularly. I guess they are...

Another test of memory: How many people remember the Soviets' propaganda reaction to Neutron Dance?

Earlier I recall Carter canceling production of the Enhanced Radiation Weapon (so-called "neutron bomb") because Soviet propaganda cleverly depicted this excellent anti-tank weapon as capitalist because it would kill people without damaging property.

Is this it?

Source.

People are acting just like the US government banned alcohol during prohibition.

Oh, not just like people in the US:

"Armed gunmen" -- distressingly common these days.

A moment of silence, please, for dead, blind, and unemployed editors.

Not quite. One Soviet paper claimed that the song was an ode to the neutron bomb; proof of the West's warmongering.

I found it via a Google Search for Stealing and here is the website it was on:

Faustus lights the lights and Mephistophelia steals the fire...

It's about 1/4th - 1/3rd of the way down.

Didn't Rush say something about 10 days ago concerning New York passing a "Safety" ordinance outlawing cigarettes with chemicals that keep them burning to prevent fires? He said that there's going to be a three month period where smokes won't be available. Perhaps someone could check this out.

No No. It's New York in general:

New York Cigarettes Sales Could Be Out - (NO CIGARETTES)
11 December 2002
The state is warning there could be a "period of time" next year when no cigarettes are available for sale in New York, The Post has learned.

The state Office of Fire Prevention and Control is expected to release regulations soon that will require that by next July, only self-extinguishing cigarettes can be sold in New York.

Well, sheesh! It's not like anyone's being ENCOURAGED to get 'em by other means.

It's a legal product, DAMMIT!
(sorry, venting...)

I'm praying for this to happen as predicted. Hope Audrey's ready for a MAJOR rally! Would be worth hopping on a plane to NYC just to see several million smokers without cigarettes converging on City Hall.

Remember the Republicans banging on the doors during the Florida Fiasco when the Democraps tried to "count the ballots" in secret? The BOB Riots? It really is going to take something like this to get folks up off their butts and get them into the streets.

I imagine the politicians know that and will see to it that it doesn't happen. They like the way things are going now.

Check into making your own, too, DC. The new injector machines make it easy, fast and cheap. A carton of good, additive-free, virtually tax-free cigarettes takes about an hour to make and costs around $8.

I may just do that. I like the taste (read: gotten used to so everything else tastes funny) of my ultra-light Cowboy Killers however.

It may cost you a little more than She's $8 a carton but if you want the same taste (but better) try some Samson Extra Milde Shag and some light filter tubes.
I smoked cowboy mediums for a long time. When I started stuffing my own I went to Samson Milde Shag and regular filter tubes. Just about the same for me (except better).
