I am surprised that we have not been hearing from more 9-11 victim familys, Sen. Murray may actually regret her insane comments someday.

This from Greg Pierce's "Inside Politics" in Friday's Washington Times:

The Murray whitewash

"Sen. Patty Murray's outrageous comments extolling Osama bin Laden as a humanitarian continue to draw mostly silence from the national media," James Taranto writes in his Best of the Web Today column at www.opinionjournal.com.

"Blogger Robert Musil notes that a piece by Adam Nagourney in [yesterday´s] New York Times discusses Democrats who 'are beginning to challenge President Bush's record on terrorism' - but makes no mention of Murray. Indeed, a Factiva search turns up no mention of Murray at all since she made the speech," Mr. Taranto said.

"Those who're skeptical of liberal media bias should ponder this hypothetical: Suppose that during President Clinton's Kosovo war, a Republican congressman had sung the praises of 'great humanitarian' Slobodan Milosevic. Is it even imaginable that the Times would omit such a comment in an article on GOP critics of the war - let alone that the paper would ignore it altogether?"

Mr. Taranto added: "The Murray whitewash may prove to be an example of how liberal media bias helps Republicans. Murray probably feels vindicated, having won the support of her hometown paper [the Seattle Times] and escaped criticism in most of the national press. Thus, she doesn't appear to have done anything to make amends. If she runs for re-election in 2004, this will be a big problem for her. WorldNetDaily reports that her comments have 'generated an Internet and talk-radio firestorm,' especially in Washington state. Two years from now, Murray's voters will know what she said about Osama bin Laden - even if most people elsewhere don't."

We can only hope...

Thanks for the post and ping, JH2 ! Man, this guy sounds like a FReeper !:

"Murray's comments about bin Laden absolutely epitomize the Democratic Party's blame-America philosophy," said Don DeVan of Manhattan. "The stupidity of her remarks make Sen. Trent Lott sound like a Ph.D. "

DeVan said Murray "should resign for the good of the nation and the Democratic Party. But not before she apologizes to all of those who lost loved ones on 9-11, starting with the New York City Fire Department."

And I'm amazed that nobody has posted this cartoon yet !

Also in Murray's home state, a community newspaper south of Seattle, the Federal Way Mirror, published a political cartoon with a takeoff on the movie "Love Story," featuring bin Laden and Murray in the title roles. The Mirror's publisher, Sound Publishing, owns 15 community newspapers in the Puget Sound area.

>>we should all write/fax/email our Senators (Repubs & Dems) and call them to accountability on this.<<

I e-mailed one of my senators Kit Bond demanding (politly of course) that he put up some kind of condemnation of Patti Murray and her statements on his web site just like he did against Trent Lott. I plan on e-mailing Jim Talent when he gets a web site.
It's hard to believe some of these Republican senators aren't jumping on this.

Thanks, Doc, for the e-mail links. I plea for all FReepers to join in on the condemnation of the news black-out of this important story! Use your voice, or written word, please.

Here's mine for television networks. I altered it for the written and radio outlets:

I have patiently waited for news outlets such as yours to cover the recent offensive remarks made by Patty Murray, praising Usama bin Laden. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting....

As a news organization in an extremely competitive market, how do you expect to grow your audience and have loyal viewers when your network cannot seem to muster the strength to repeatedly air inflammatory remarks made by ALL politicians?

WAIT... STOP! Don't blow that question off like you usually do! Ask yourself WHY you haven't covered the Murray/bin Laden story. Or better yet, ask yourself WHY you haven't seen fit to REPEATEDLY air Murray's offensive remarks praising the king of terrorists, along with follow-up opinions of her remarks by fellow citizens and politicians? Aren't you interested in taking Americas pulse on THIS story? If not, WHY? This is a huge story!!! A United States Senator gave a speech to high school students praising bin Laden, and your network takes a pass? Whoa, what is the public to conclude?

I know why you haven't covered this story. Do YOU? For your information, I don't wear a tin foiled hat. I'm not a right wing nut. I believe in fairness, okay? Call me Pollyanna, but I expect news outlets to strive for fairness and balance and not show favoritism for one political party over another. I'm sick of networks that create the news, rather than report it. Granted, you have many stories from which to select for news coverage. But why take a pass on this one? It speaks volumes about your network's bias, especially after the Lott debacle.

It also speaks volumes about your ignorance of the people who keep you in business. Your potential audience is vast. Your audience is not. I wonder why that is? Have YOU ever asked yourself that question? If not, it's high time you did.

It's times like this that I relish the well-known saying, "Survival of the Fittest".

She can only get away with it if the American people allow it to stand. More and more people and families of 9-11 should speak out anywhere and everywhere they can. This is the United States of America and there are platforms for those who want something to say.

The people should have equal time when something like this is said by someone like murray...she was wrong and insulted everyone who died on that day. If it had been a relative of mine I would be on every TV, radio show there is shouting from the rooftops her terrible, terrible remarks. I would call every newspaper from here to eternity to put my remarks in there. I would pay for a front page ad to denouce her. I would borrow the money to pay for that full page ad...and there would be people willing to lend me that money to do so.

People have to continaully speak up. Scream it from the tops of their lungs. Get it out there in front of the people and yell, yell, yell. You get nothing done by sitting on your hands. Speak up. Speak out. This is America and not only those who are in the stupid movies or politics have a right to say things. WE TOO HAVE A VOICE AND WE DARNED WELL BETTER BEGIN USING IT.

I am proud of those familes of the victims of 9-11 for speaking out. More need to do so and they need to write her office and everyone else to complain, denounce and DEMAND her resignation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice letter.

BTW, during sweeps month (Nov), cable channels beat the networks for the first time in history, so I bet they are asking that question.

I hope so. Appealing to liberal news icons to be fair and unbiased in ideology and politics won't make it happen. The irony is that money (ratings) talks, and we know how they loathe money! < /sarcasm>

"Cartier said "there is no way the senator can properly represent Americans when her sympathies embrace evil."

"She should resign and allow someone to hold her position who will tender reverence, respect and honor to Americans and not to those evil people who slaughter for kicks," he said.

Also pls note that each of the Al Qeda cell members caught in Buffalo NY were registered democrats.

Democrats will lure the weak through welfare and then use this power to destroy the United Sates.

The Brits used opium parlors Hillary uses welfare checks.

When is someone in the media going to mention that it was one of Murray's former constituents who was murdered in Lebanon, while working in a healthcare clinic. Radical Muslims don't want our help or goodworks.
