I think that the RATs should do some purging of their own starting with Robert Byrd, Patty Murry, and most notably the anti-Jewish Senator from NY, ms. clinton!
Didn't mean to infer that I thought the press was fair -- what happened with Lott resigning as Majority Leader was necessary but the press and the RATs overplayed their hand IMO and it will come back to bite them. Now it would be great if the press had the same standard for Byrd, Murry, and Clinton, but I am not holding my breath.

Of course what happened to Lott wasn't "fair". But Sharpton and Jackson cannot be held to the same standards by voters because they do not hold public office, especially an office as public as Majority Leader. Fair or not Republicans have to be far more morally clean because the morally void have no conscience about slinging false accusations against their betters.
It does need to be demanded of the Democrats to clean their house, but by voters, not by the administration or Republicans in office. The more you stir some things the more they stink. Is it fair? Of course not, but life isn't.
As for Lott he was inept and needed replacing a long time before he publicly hung himself. I'm sure many democrats hated to see him go, he was their best and most pliable companion in the Republican camp to hold such a high office. His replacement may be far worse, that remains to be seen, but Lott needed to go. On his plus side he did the right thing for the party, after he was given some cherry positions.
