Blacks remain the largest minority, at 12%. Hispanics are the fastest growing, at around 10%. Whoever is the missing 13%?
To avoid the weirdness that comes from all of the combinations from multiple race entries for a single person (2000 was the first year this was used), I just listed those who claimed only one race.
White alone 75.1%
Black alone 12.3%
American Indian alone 0.9%
Asian alone 3.6%
Pacific Islander 0.1%
Hispanic 6.7%... I took this from a separate chart, since on the main chart, Hispanic is included as a subset of every other race, including Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (total: 126,265!)
Hmmm... Only 18.7 million Hispanics in America??? I don't buy that. There's easily that many in CA and TX alone. Or were they only counting citizens, and not residents?
Cute... the 1990 census has 22.3 million Hispanics ("of any race"). I guess they're actually leaving the U.S. in droves, LOL.
marketing people who are usually more on top of things than what the Gov lets on to knowing think that Latinos have already surpassed African Americans by a wide margin.
