[history]
When Fort Collins City Council passed a strict smoking ordinance last month, it joined a wave of cities that have enacted tighter restrictions on lighting up in public.
And as the ordinance burns its way into residents' thinking, the city might find itself at the forefront of a movement to make similar changes across the state.

Dillon Mayor Barbara Davis said secondhand smoke kills 2,000 people a day and was a health issue for employees. I think she is wrong. Isn't it 50 billion people "murdered" every minute by evil tobacco?

Of these... I only know about Boulder having visited there on a few business trips.
The big myth is that they have banned smoking in Boulder. The bar business has all but died out, except for a few bars that flaunt the law, tacitly allow smoking, and are taking all of the business from all of the other bars in town.

The liberals will attack the minority of voters, like evil smokers. Next, they will see that Jews are in the minority of voters and a light bulb will pop in their Nazi minds...

"I smoked for 33 years, and I taught smoking cessation for 10 years," Lindstrom said. And where did the funds come from for you to teach? TAXES?

On the other hand, Moscatelli agreed with banning smoking in Frisco Town Hall,
where people have to go.
YES! Someone actually sees this!

hehehe... shhhhh!!! Don't give them any ideas.
It is kinda funny though, how you can take Nazi literature from the 30's and just search-and-replace "jews" for "smokers", and it reads just the same.
Funny that.

Here is an anti tobacco/alcohol banner from those days. Adolf hated both.

Summit County Commissioner Gary Lindstrom, a former smoker who supports a countywide smoking ban, is urging towns to discuss the issue.
"I smoked for 33 years, and I taught smoking cessation for 10 years," Lindstrom said.
I would wage money that behind most of these "bans" are more
reformed smokers. Nothing like a reformed smoker... they turn into the worst cigarette nazis. Probably unresolved smoking issues.
"Smoking bans are not about smoking; they are about control," Long said. "My problem comes from minding everybody in the world's business for them."
THIS is the golden nugget!

"City Council vote snuffs smoking in virtually all public offices, restaurants and bars. The main exemption allows smoking in the bar areas of bowling alleys and bingo parlors if they provide separate, independently ventilated areas." Two questions.
1--when did private property become "public?"
2--"allows smoking...if they provide...ventilated areas." The assumption is that "they" is the private property owner.
Amendment V:
"...nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."
Isn't the private property (profits) of the restaurant owner for example, being taken for the public use? The private property owner's profits are going to be the funding for the purchase and installation of such ventilating equipment.
Shouldn't there be a tax on all of the citizen's of Ft. Collins to pay the required compensation to the private property owners for the taking of their property for public use?

Dillon Mayor Barbara Davis said secondhand smoke kills 2,000 people a day So @ 2000 a day that would mean 730,000 a year die from second hand smoke. Yeah Ok,

1--when did private property become "public?" Start your own business and you'll find out. When you open your business you're inviting the public in...As someone else posted somewhere else...try posting a sign saying "no blacks allowed" and let us know how it works out for you.
"...nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."
No one is taking property or restricting smokers or anyone else from any business...You just can't smoke while you're there...Is that really so difficult to understand or abide by?
Smokers brought his on themselves with their lack of common courtesy and "it's my right" attitude...Now you'll have to live with us.

"We're excited to be in this movement that is sweeping the state and the nation," she said. "We hope it's something that will encourage other communities to take this on and go for it." Cities are not spontaneously and independently coming up with this idea. It originates, and is propogated by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)out of Altanta and completely funded by taxpayer dollars. This effort is well orchastrated by CDC in association with the State health departments in each State. This is a project they have been working on for years and it seems to now be steamrolling.

Don't even bother to cite the Constitution. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats care one bit about it. The Republicans do use the Second Amendment as political leverage, so as long as that goes on, at least it's safe. Another Democrat administration will chip away at that, though. Also, wait and see what the next Clinton type president does with the Patriot and Homeland Security acts. The fact of the matter is that you really have very few rights to do anything unless the government says so. Also, since you cited the Constitution, you fit one of the criteria issued by the FBI in their pamphlet on terrorism. It's sad that the war on individual liberty has gotten this far.

So, tell me a little about how you became an authoritarian. This could be fun.
Perhaps a few intellectual excercises like this one will give you that extra boost in IQ that you need to discover how to avoid the few establishments where smoking is permitted.
