If the Giants had one, the NFL would not have been able to release the schedule for any games beyond next weekend because there was a remote possibility that both the Giants and the Jets, who play in the same stadium, could have hosted league championship games.

I heard that the NFL was actually prepared to schedule both of them in Giants Stadium on the same day, with an interval of 2-3 hours between games.

True, but the league knew the four sites for this week's games. As I recall in the past games have been scheduled prior to the playoffs (___ @ Oakland 4:00PM SAT, ___ @ Philadelphia 8:00PM SAT, etc)

This year I believe the league waited to schedule those games to see where the two NY teams would fall.

You could be right about the Conference Championship games, though. The logistics for that one would've been something to see...

No, Giants came in as 5th seed, there's no way they're hosting a game until the Conference championship (that would mean the 6th seed won both the wild card and divisional, as did the 5th seed, thus leaving the 5th seed as the highest), there's no possible way for any of the teams that played in the wild card to be top two seed (to host a game) because the 1 and 2 teams are waiting for them. Only after the divisional round, when the 1 and 2 teams can be beaten, can 5 or 6 host a playoff game period, or 3 or 4 (the Jets) host a second playoff game.
