Not to put too fine a point on it but if you are earning over $92,000.00 and you can't afford new vehicles you either are living in the wrong place or you need help in money management.

Wow! Hubby and I are rich rich rich! Must be why he drives a 1987 Toyota, my car is a '98 (I had to replace the old Mercury), and we don't take vacations. We're rich!

You scumbag. You exploiter of the downtrodden. You coldhearted plutocrat. I bet you just keep that '87 Toyota because it reminds you of the Regan years when you no doubt used the homeless as human footstools.

92K is NOT rich in Bucks County PA....lol...... I wish it was though.........

In Marin County California it aint squat...

Which raises the question: Isn't the so called progressive tax skewed?...In other words two people paying 30% in taxes that live in areas that have a two fold disparity in cost of living are not being taxed "equally". The guy living in the high rent district is really getting screwed...it would seem as if a geographic cost of living analysis is in order. How much power does your disposable income have?

My 70 cents won't even grease the skids in Marin...

Some Dem mouthpiece was on Hannity and Colmes yapping about the top ten percent. Hannity asked what it took to put someone in this regal catagory. I've never seen such squirming. He honestly had no idea, yet he knew they were filty rich and getting away with murder. Truely pathetic.

You're better off financially driving used cars anyway, IMO. New cars depreciate so fast the first year that they aren't worth it.

Lots of people selling used and second cars now with the economy as bad as it is. My perception is that it's cheaper than ever to buy a used car.

As of 2000, if you have a household income of $92K, you're rich!

Wait. I was told public school teachers were poor. Now you are telling me that they are rich?!

If I made less than 92k in So Cal, I'd have to lay-off my illegal alien maid and gardener.

So don't live in Marin. Leave the high cost of living and move to a tropical island in the South Pacific where EVERYONE is POOR.

Meega, Nala Kweesta!

In RI, two school teachers earn app. 100,000.
The average Tony earns about 25,000.

Maybe it's like J. F. Kerry.

He's worth 600 mil but only pays taxes on 140,000.(senate salary)

I only pay taxes on about 15-20k.

If we can make do....why cant every one else

I think you're lost. You want democratundergrond.com.

Some of us are in families with three people going through college. Try that on your 45k a year.

Or do we not have a right to make more than you? Maybe we should give the government everything and they can split it up best. Afterall, daschle knows best, right?

Cripes! I almost made it! A little more overtime this year, and I'll be "rich" again. I haven't been "rich" since my last comany paid my moving expenses.

Here's a question that I think could have some use in the political arena... annually, how much does the average registered Republican pay in federal taxes (FICA, Medi's, income, payroll, capital gains, etc), and how much does the average Democrat pay in taxes?

My guesses: about $20,000 to about $3,500
(the numbers could be even further separated by taking out the top 5% of each side, where the elite Democrats bring their numbers up significantly)

The point is that while the nation is basically split 50-50, those who are paying far less into the system and getting far money more out of the system (through transfer payments, which should also be enumerated) are demanding that even more be sent their way, and even less taken from them... while taking even more from those evil, rich Republicans, to make sure the budget is balanced, and the deficit decreases.

Actually, I read somewhere that the income figures put out by the IRS do not take into account a small fraction of earners at the very tip top, i.e., the super rich. These people do not show up in these figures. Why, I am not sure. THe article I read gave a reason, but I don't remember it.

We, in the United States of America, are not supposed to have royalty.

The income and the area are inextricably linked at the hip...

Which your quip dismisses...the term rich is relative geographically...

We are going to be innundated with tables and charts that describe anyone making 96k is rich...

While you, and everyone else views this, keep in mind that branding people via their US dollar income as one type of rich or another...is dismissing a rather poignent fact.

98k <> 98k
