ON NORTH KOREA, the conventional wisdom in Washington, which happens to be the same as the conventional wisdom in Pyongyang, goes roughly like this: George W. Bush triggered the crisis by excessive hardening-of-line and axis-of-evil-calling; Bush is compounding his hard-lining error by irresponsibly refusing to negotiate with Pyongyang; and, paradoxically, Bush is guilty of foreign-policy incoherence or worse in adopting a harder line toward Saddam Hussein than Kim Jong Il.

Jimmy Carter was the WORST President we ever had UNTIL Clinton was elected. He's a Leftist. imcompetent Boob who never met a Dictator he didn't LOVE and would gladly give them anything they wanted...ala The Panama Canal....Nukes...etc. History will NOT be kind to Carter.

But the deal gave Clinton another way to stick it to us.

The 1994 agreement showed a blind belief in the idea that if we all talk things over, come to an agreement and then all hold hands singing "Kumbaya", that the problem will be solved. It also showed a remarkable ignorance of diplomatic history. Neville Chamberlain comes to mind immediately.

Sorry, that honor will remain with Lyndon B. Johnson for a long time. He gave us the "War on Poverty" leading to 35 years of excessive welfare, i.e. 5 trillion dollars wasted, and the war in Vietnam ... handled in the most inept fashion possible during his tenure as president. There was severe corruption in office, much of which was not reported at the time. Also, many people seriously believe he had some knowledge and involvement in the JFK assassination. (After all, he benefited the most of anyone from JFK's death, whom he despised.)
These things are still affecting us, negatively, today. As president, you have to be pretty terrible to have so much negative effect on your citizenry 35 years after you leave office.
We will continue to honor Clinton as second worst president ... and a close second at that!

You are correct! LBJ was our worst President and I, too, always thought he had something to do with JFK's assassination!

My goodness, Clinton, Johnson, and Carter.
It is amazing the country survived all of them. Come to think of it, the country may not have survived them. Just a pale shadow of what it once was.
Oh yes, we could also add in FDR and Truman.

My two (2) cents:
FDR at the very tippy-top of the list; with anyone else a extremely distant second, third, ...

Right on! FDR gave us the Ponzi scheme know as "Social Security" which will be the ultimate death of our republic.

The real question is.....what were the so called inspectors doing there all these years. I guess they felt their paychecks were far more important than the fact the NK was developing nuclear bombs.

Clinton, Johnson and Carter, southern Democrats who became president. Do you need another reason not to see John Edwards in the White house?

For Christmas, I ordered a videotape of Bill Gertz being grilled, 1 on 1 by Brian Lamb on C-Span in 1999, and Gertz really lays out the facts on Billy Jeff. I've got to read his book Betrayal, because that's mostly what the hour is about.I watched it last night and Gertz was rather,hmmm..."damning in his clarity" is a fair phrase about The Skunk's actions towards North Korea. All of which has become true btw.
