You wrote that Hitler was a vegan. Actually, Hitler's favorite dish was squab (pigeon) under glass, and he loved sausages too. He went vegetarian for a litte while per his doctor's recommendation in order to treat his flatulence (now there's an image for you), and Goebbels played it up because of the civilized world's admiration for a real vegetarian of the time, Mahatma Gandhi. Don't fall for Goebbel's lie.

I once saw a menu of what was served at one meal at the Fuehrerhauptquartier during the war. There was a meat dish for the others, but the Fuehrer (and those who wanted to imitate him) got a vegetarian meal whose elements sounded distinctly unappetizing.

I believe you're right that he was not a strict vegetarian. I understand that, on his frequent trips to Munich, he would often break down, go to eat at the Vier Jahreszeiten, and have what I had understood was his favorite dish of Leberknoedelsuppe (liver dumpling soup,) with which he would even have beer.
