I agree with this article. My husband and I got married 13 years ago at age 23. No, we hadn't done all the mandated 'single' things to do- establish career, travel, live together, have a 3 year engagement, etc... We were just starting out after college and had faith that we would be successful- together. That is what has made our marriage so rich- memories of lean times and our tiny apartment, our first jobs, house, etc... We did it all together and are the stronger for it. Now no one wants to get married until both partners are established and secure. By then, someone has to dismantle their life and 'sacrifice' to accomadate the other, be it job or moving. When you find the right one, just get on with your lives- TOGETHER.

I saw several of my college friends go through this heartbreak. They were planning to marry their college sweethearts, but felt they had time and wanted to be single. they each figured the other would still be there 5 years later after living their exciting single life and establishing careers. Well, guess what happened. They took jobs in different cities, grew apart and now are still single and regret not marrying those people. Now in their late thirties, their hopes of finding someone and having a family gets dimmer and more desperate every day. All for a few years of single 'fun'.

My ex-wife and I got married at 21, in 1979, and had 2 wonderful boys to show for it. But for some unknown reason, wifey started the new millenum with a new job, and before 6 months had passed, she had a new boyfriend as well. I still can't understand what would make a 43 year old woman that was married for 22 years suddenly decide to leave her family and set up "house" with in another town. Anyway, last year I met another wonderful woman, with 3 boys, married her the first of this year, and am enjoying life by providing for "our" 5 kids! So now I'm with wife 2.0, a newly wed at 44. And I could'nt be happier!!!!
