I used to have a great reputation here but, alas, I replied on too many Socks C. threads.

Yeah, it is growing to be an unwieldy beast. MySQL has merge tables, which would allow me to partition the data into numerous tables accessed transparently through one virtual merge table. But I haven't benchmarked that, I don't know what type of overhead it would add, especially when doing an index lookup, which is all the time.

Actually, the only downside of this large table is rebuilding it when the index crashes. But that doesn't happen frequently, and it takes a relatively short time (30 minutes or so) to rebuild. I do one day plan to add a fulltext index to the comments, but that index takes days to rebuild-- so I will definately want to partition my data before then.

Not sure what you mean? The font size can only be between 1 and 7, or a relative value -n or +n (but the final computed size will not be less than one nor greater than 7.) This is defined within the HTML specification, and not something FR-specific.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

If you're missing those larger font sizes (3-7) it is only on your side. I see seven distinct font sizes on my test above. I believe the font has a maximum size, and if your browser's base font size is very large, the largest of the sizes will not show in a distinctly larger font size. (Because it will have reached the maximum size.)

Have you ever considered switching over to PostqreSQL? In my experience, it works much better under load.

sorry,

MY ASSUMPTIONS are showing again.

I was able to html code +3, +4 or 5 or 7.

Then some loud mouths ranted at me for using big fonts.
Shortly after that, I never could again though I used the same html tags as before.

Same XP-P etc.

So I ASSUMED they'd persuaded you to turn such off in my case somehow.

SORRY FOR MY ASSSSS UMPTIONS.

Won't bother you more about it.

Will try and see about my fonts.

BLESS YOU IN YOUR ALL NIGHTER. WILL PRAY IT GOES SMOOTHLY AND AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

LUB,
Q

An off thread house-keeping issue....
How can a thread be related to Philosopy and Foreign Policy or, Conservatism and Humor? It seems that the vast majority of the threads belong in ONE dominate category. The categories are worthless if we let posters put there thread in all of them. What about limiting it to one choice...or at worst two?

Thanks for "slave servers" . LOL. I saw that too. Maybe "slave posters" would be another term for the FR lexicon, meaning those of us "voluntarily indentured" to this forum. Somebody's got to fill this place up everyday. For FReedom and Liberty!

I got Shanghai'd at FRee Republic... And Loving it! :-)

Any new scuttlebutt from the GJ?

I think I really am a "slave poster". Did you notice that I posted on this thread at around 3 a.m. Couldn't sleep; had to get my FR fix.

As for the GJ . . . this could be the biggest story to hit since the Florida recount. Stay tuned . . .
