Studies like this do not address those questions. They are engineering feats that eventually may be of large value.

Of course it is. I was referring to the idea that this implies anything about whether life on Earth was designed or not (the "ID hypothesis"). Usually when threads like this come up on FreeRepublic, someone makes exactly that claim. I just thought I'd get it out of the way early.
