I just spoke personally with Kit Bond's Kansas City staff. Told them that if they cave on the two-third rule now, they will be playing the whole game with their hands tied behind their back and that the time to Fight is NOW.

I called mine already. I'll call again in the morning if this nonsense is still going on. I must say, though, that I don't think they were too impressed with my call. They were nice but I got the "we'll pass that along to the Senator" response.
Sure wish I had some one other than Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to call. Sigh.

I watched this on C-Spam, what the demos are asking for is the same deal they gave to Republicans according to the demos I heard speak. They seemed to think the Republicans were asking for the 2/3 - 1/3 split of prior years. Something the Demos would have done had they picked up seats. The Republicans were upset that they were holding up the chairmanships until an agreement was reached. Something that was not done in the past. Hand the gavels over and negotiate. That is the way it should work.

My Letter to Daschle:
To the Honorable Tom Daschle:
Senator Daschle,
When the Senate was divided 50/50 after the 2000 elections the Republicans still held the majority by virtue of Vice President Cheney being the tie breaking vote, The then Senate Majority Leader, (Trent Lott), agreed to split the funding for the Committees with the Democrats as a gesture of good will. In return, you aggressively went after someone to switch parties and give the Democrats the majority. You managed to get Jim Jeffords to become an independent and coffer with the Democrats with a variety of promises and back room deals. You then became the majority leader in what many think was highly questionable and illegitimate fashion. I guess your guilty conscience persuaded you to keep the funding split 50/50 as you spent the next 15 months doing your very best to obstruct legislative progress and blocked over 50 Bills from being debated and voted on.
The Mid-Term Elections in November 2002 should have sent you and your party a clear message that the American people wanted to see things get done in the 108th Congress. In Case you missed it, YOU LOST and your party is no longer in the Majority. Bill Frist is the legitimate(emphasis added) Majority Leader and does not owe you a thing and I encourage him to ignore your OUTRAGEOUS demands. For two long years this country has had to suffer because of your inability to do the job you were elected to do and I hope the good people of South Dakota send you the same message many of your colleagues received on November 6th, 2002 and adds you to the long list of unemployed in this country, thanks to your obstructionist tactics.
Tom Daschle I urge to cease and suspend this childish maneuvering and do the job the people have elected you to do.
.
Sincerely,
A Concerned American
