As Rush pointed out today, the UN Resolution requires Saddam, NOT Blix, to show that he has no weapons of mass destruction. He has not done so; therefore, he is in violation.

I've often been gratified at how "slant-free" the History Channel can be. Back during the 1994 debate over the "assault weapon ban" which was up for consideration then, when *every* other media outlet was hysterically flogging the gun control issue in one direction or other (mostly *one* direction), the History Channel scheduled a show on "guns in America". Oh, great, I thought, here we go again. But to my amazement it was *absolutely* unbiased. Not only did it not stump for one "solution" or other, it didn't even get near the "gun crime" or "gun control" issue. It simply was a really good history lesson on the use of guns through American history, showing when different models were invented and introduced, the tactical effects of those inventions, etc. etc. It was as non-political and matter-of-fact as a history of the sewing machine. Bravo.

Does the History Channel stick to the facts on 100% of their programs. I've never watched but I have heard my 30 something friends say things like "I never learned about the Vietnam war, etc in school" and "learned about it on the History Channel".

Saw the show and did't hear them mention Clinton. Did they???

During the "Why Can't We Kill Saddam" portion, the ex-CIA officer during Clinton's administration (Robert Baer), gave a chilling account of how he was IN Iraq and had organized a group of resistance fighters ready to revolt in the northern area of the country. In addition, the then head of Saddam's military intelligence, was ready for an assassination attempt on Saddam, to be coordinated with the armed actions of the resistance group in the north.

On the day of the scheduled attack against Saddam's forces in the north, Baer finally received a cable from Anthony Lake (Clinton's then National Security Adviser), to call off all action because the operation was compromised. The attack proceeded in the north and successfully overran several of Saddam's units until it became clear that no US support was forthcoming. Concurrently, Saddam's intelligence chief became aware of the lack of support and managed to flee with his family thru the northern border.

Baer, the CIA agent, was then recalled to DC and rewarded for his service by an FBI investigation focused on his attempts to assassinate a foreign leader. All of this was more thoroughly recounted in his book "See No Evil". The years 1994-95 were prominently mentioned during the show, although they may not have specifically mentioned Clinton. The show left NO DOUBT, however, as to who the pres was then.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I just now got your responses to my earlier post.

Yea, you have to commend THC for running those interviews.

Lake - a pathetic little weasel - adamantly refused to support Baer (he was on the ground in Northern Iraq) or the Kurdish revolt, not to mention the coup against Saddam that was to be executed simultaneously with the revolt by Iraqi military officers.

After both efforts ran out of steam, the CIA called Baer back to the U.S., where he immediately was investigated by the FBI (!!!) for "attempted assasination of a government official" (specifically, Saddam Hussein!).

You don't have to connect too many dots to realize that Anthony Lake and Bill Clinton directed the FBI to harrass a CIA Field Officer on criminal charges.

I recall at the time that the CIA took all of the heat for "abandoning" the Kurds. In fact, Baer was begging for help, and the Clinton White House shut him down.

In See No Evil, I believe that Baer focused mainly on National Security Advisor Anthony Lake.

Last night he specifically mentioned Clinton.

And clearly Lake would have consulted Clinton on both the abandonment of the Kurds and Iraqi officers, as well as the subsequent FBI harrassment of Baer.

Another truly despicable truth of the Clinton years.

No sh!t. You're earlier characterization of Lake as a "pathetic little weasle" is a study in understatement.

You're right, the stain left by Clinton and his minions will be with us for a long time.

I watched the 9-10 (Saddam's arsenal) and the 10-11 (US forces) segments. Produced and narrated by the "Scud Stud" of 91 Gulf War Fame (can't recall his name), it was the most riveting 2 hrs of tv I have ever seen. I watched bits of the other programming on Gulf War I earlier in the week, too. All in all, the entire series is the best stuff on tv in a long long time. For instance, for the segment on Saddam's arsenal, then interview people who really know stuff, such as Kenneth Pollack and two Americans who were on the UN Inspections regimen 1991--98.

Public schools don't teach History, they are too busy teaching left wing environmentalism, liberal indoctrination, AND ANTI-CAPITALISM.
