Tell you the truth, I watch the news a lot and I've never heard of Saddam making a threat against the US. Perhaps you're assuming he would threaten the US because we've been bombing him for ten years?

No assumptions are being made here. If you are basing your decision on the news you watch (probably CNN or MSNBC I am guessing) that probably isn't the best source of information to say the least. I did not know that we were bombing Hussein for ten years, surely that would have made the news. Like I said before, the Secretary of State did not give all of the evidence the U.S. has. That is a fact. The statements he gave today were not mere assumptions, do you honestly think that he would present this information and expect noone to question it? Of course there are skeptics who actually believe Saddam will cooperate. If he does, great! Why 12 years later? What made him change his mind? And if he has nothing to hide, then why are the Iraqi leaders giving contradictory statements to the press all over the world? (Trying to turn tables on U.S. saying they are making this up, then saying they have full explanations for the evidence) A peaceful ending would be optimal, but let's be realistic. The U.N. has given Saddam MORE than enough time to disarm. Why haven't these weapons been shown to the inspectors? Where is the evidence they were destroyed? Why are they giving the U.N. old documents, (even Hans Blix confimed this) and why won't Iraqi scientists testify if there is nothing to hide? All of this boils down to one issue. Resolution #1441. Iraq simply has not complied with the U.N. Saddam has no respect for the human life in his own country (By the way, his own son executed their soccer team for losing the world series, for example) Do you honestly think he cares about American lives when he is killing his own citizens?

Your arguments are so full of holes I would suggest that you might help the economy along by starting a swiss cheese factory.

First of all, your assertion that my news comes from CNN or MSNBC suggest that you're attempting to paint me as being a "steriotypical liberal". I can assure you that I'm an "extreme" conservative.

You express doubt that we've been bombing Iraq for ten years - which suggests that *YOU* should be rethinking your news sources. The US and Britian have maintained a low-level bombing campaign since the end of the Gulf War.

With regard to giving Saddam "time to disarm", I thought the issue was "weapons of mass destruction". But those who advocate war seem to be continuously changing the rules until they achieve the outcome they desire (war). George Orwell would be sincerely proud.

I don't like Saddam Hussein, but I also don't believe he threatens the security of the United States in any way. In the past two years our own Justice Department has eroded more of my freedoms than I believe one hundred Saddam's are capable of affecting.

The reality is that the Clinton years have rendered me very cynical and totally distrusting of politicians. I am like the caged dog that's been poked in the ribs with a sharp stick one-to-many times. You should go ahead and have your war and pay not attention to me ... to polite society I am simply "damaged goods", and my loss of trust is irredeemable.

As an aside, there will be plenty of me playing a role in this war. I wrote the firmware that will steer those intelligent missiles into Baghdad and was central in developing the facility that calibrates every GPS receiver used by every soldier and every smart bomb. I wrote the firmware in every BCU (battery control unit) which will guide each howitzer shell to it's target, and I developed the az/el control sytems for the radars that will be tracking any incoming projectiles. So, I may not be supporting your position, but I have most certainly enabled it.

If you still believe that Iraq is no threat after Powell's presentation yesterday, then it only proves that you will never support war against Iraq-no matter how clear the evidence. Are you that naive (every one of your posts are as liberal as they come). What the hell gives? The fifth Column?

You must admit though, that this war will happen soon. Hopefully, it will be quick and will scare the hell out of our other enemies.
