Heard Sean Hannity discuss this story yesterday and couldn't believe it.

She said her religious beliefs dictated that she should not show her face to strangers or men outside her family. Wouldn't those same religious beliefs dictate that she not drive a car either?

>>Freeman's attorney, Howard Marks, has said that the government's stand on this matter is unconstitutional.
It'd be really nice if no attorney would've taken her 'case'. What a numbskull idiot this woman is.
Send her to Saudi Arabia.

American-born converted MuslimThis is what bugs me about this un-American B*TCH. She's not even the real deal. You know what B*TCH - if you don't like our laws here, go on over to Iraq or Saudi - see how you like their treatment of women. Sorry for the rant - this "person" has been dragging this on for way too long.

This is TRULY Stupid. If she refuses to remove the veil she should be refused a D.L. and an ID card and if she doesn't like it she can fight it all the way to the SCOTUS.

Freeman was originally allowed to wear her veil, which only reveals her eyes, to obtain a Florida driver's license. The DMV is chock full of idiots.

Freeman's attorney, Howard Marks, has said that the government's stand on this matter is unconstitutional. Should read:
Freeman's attorney, Howard Marks, has said that the government's stand on this matter is unconstitutional is an idiotic buffoon that gives other lawyers a bad name.

The right to drive on public roads is a privilege granted by the government of the states to their citizens under certain conditions.
A nine year old might as well sue on constitutional grounds for being denied the right to a driver's license.

When officials requested that Freeman take a driver's license photo without the veil, she refused. She said her religious beliefs dictated that she should not show her face to strangers or men outside her familyIf she is so concerned about her Muslim beliefs here, then why is she getting a driver's license? Women aren't allowed to drive in many Muslim countries. I guess she's selective with her cultural indignation here.
But beyond that, the possibilities for jokes are endless here. I can see a lineup of chador-clad women if this woman is ever suspected of a crime. And I can just see a state trooper scrutinizing her license with a flashlight, going "What the ----?"

"I don't show my face to strangers or unrelated males," Freeman said in an earlier Local 6 News report.
Issuing a public statement? Where's my flogging stick?

Freeman's attorney, Howard Marks, has said that the government's stand on this matter is unconstitutional. There is absolutely no constitutional issue here. She will not win this case. The entire point of an I.D. card of any type is for the person to be identified.
If she should win, then nobody could be required to show their face on an I.D. You know, equal protection and everything.

Can it not be considered dangerous to be driving with a diaper over your face?

Interesting that in Saudi Arabia, women are required to have photo IDs, without the veil!!!

What's the problem ... "Yeah officer that's her, the one in the burqa!" Makes a conviction easy! < /Sarcasm >

Freeman, who is an American-born converted Muslim, will go to trial
in April for another lawsuit which seeks the reinstatement of her driver's
license with a veil.
The only thing that freaks me out more than American males who convert to Islam...
are American women who convert to Islam.
Talk about a "persecution" complex!
They can't wait to get married to guys who would just love to move them to Pakistan, etc.,
and get wife #2, #3, and #4.
Of course, as far as I can see, logic/facts doesn't apply to these people.
I about spewed when I heard Shaq had quit Christianity because he was tired
of "partying" and thus converted to Islam.
I don't know where the heck the "Thou Shalt Party On, Dude" commandment is located
in The Holy Bible.
I wonder if Radio Shack is getting some heat about the new Islamic status of their
spokes-person...
it's just too "coincidental" that this news about Shaq and the Radio Shack commercials
about "we won't ask you your name and address anymore, promise!" just
started airing here in Los Angeles...

This is America.
We have a set of laws.
When living in America one must follow American laws.
After the attacks on America (bombing of our embassies, the first attack on the World Trade Center, the September 11, 2001 attacks on America, possibly the OKC bombing, etc. as well as the attempted attacks on America); it is hard for me to comprehend why someone would not want to follow our laws for the security of our country. It's that simple. As President George Bush once said, "Either you're for us or...."

Next will be the case of the African tribesman who believes that his soul will be stolen if photographed for a driver's license.

I have little sympathy for her and wish she'd go away. However, I wonder what freepers would think about a thumbprint as an ID? Or what Muslim women would think?
A thumbprint (or two) provides a reliable ID, but one that requires more time to check than a photo. It would be kinda tough to examine examine a thumbprint on a license by flashlight on a night-time stop.
To: McGruff
no show face equals no id card...lol

Please someone (anyone) tell me this is a wind-up! Someone lives in a free state and is allowed to take legal action because she is not prepared to follow the laws of the country in which she lives? What is she doing in the US if she doesn't support its values?
