**US MAY USE TATICAL NUKES IN IRAQ**
LA Times and Times of India ^ | January 25, 2003 | William Arkin

Posted on 01/25/2003 6:43:36 AM PST by ewing

The United States is quietly preparing for the use of tatical nuclear weapons in a war against Iraq and military planners have been actively studying lists of potential targets, the media reported Saturday.

The preparations include possible use of so called 'bunker buster' nuclear weapons against deeply buried military targets the Los Angeles Times reported on Saturday morning quoting William M. Arkin.

Defence officials have been focusing their plans on the use of tatical nuclear arms in retaliation for a strike by the Iraqis with chemical or biological weapons, or to preempt one, the daily said.

US Administration officials believe that in some circumstances, using nuclear arms may be the only way to destory deeply buried targets that may contain unconventional weapons, the report said.

Some officials have argued that the blast and radiation of effect of such strikes would be limited.

Remember the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones only has a whip and is threatened by an Arab with a huge Ali Babba sword ?

So Indy just pulls out his revolver and blam! the Arab is neatly dispatched.

That is roughly what could happen in Baghdad if Saddam uses chemicals. We could just pull out the troops (as the media rejoices) then drop a 12 megaton whopper on Baghdad.

BUMP

I wonder why Germany and France don't want to be associated with the US, on this one?

1. Because Germany and France have a paper trail a mile long. Germany taught Iraq haow to build and operate cyclotrons, which are used to enrich uranium up to weapons grade.

2. Germany and France have numerous contracts with Iraq for oil. Germany and France have financed Saddam's despotic regieme. THE BLOOD NOW AND YET TO BE ON SADDAM"S HANDS WAS AND IS ONLY POSSIBLE WITH GERMAN AND FRENCH EUROS.

3. France has always been against the US except when their bacon needed to be saved in WW's I & II. They wouldn't let our planes use their air space when Reagan knocked some sense into Ghaddafi. And he did knock some sense into Ghaddafi; Reagan broke that sucker of blowing up airplanes, sure enough. But the French were and are always willing to sell out their real estate and anyone elses blood to despots in order to avoid so much as a stubbed toe or a hangnail.

4. Der Furhuer Shroeder is ruling the Huns now only because of wacko anti-industrialist Greens who hate the US votes. Support of the US is political suicide for him. Another ruler willing to let others die in order to stay in political power.

5. The French are a bunch fools who realize that every success of the US, exposes their inferiority complex as being well deserved and with a Napoleonic complex to be somebody on the worlds stage, but with the resources and intelligence but make that goal an impossibility without being part of a coalition of like-minded fools. It is convienent for them now that they find Nazis back in power next door.

Ditto that, the Islamists problem could been solved on 9-12-2001 if we had nuked the deserving nations.

Iraq is the most secular nation in the area. That's why so many of us question bombing Iraq rather than those countries that are filled with Islamic fundamentalists. The way some people here gleefully want to toss nuclear weapons around is bizarre at best.

BTW: We follow orders.

Sounds eerily like the words of Germans in WWII.

There is a school of thought in the US Army Generals war college that the 2nd 9/11 blast was designed to use the jet fumes from the 1st plane to magnify the damage like was done in Chechnya.

So the second New York explosion was equal to a .5 kiloton blast if you look at the damage that was done to the area and the surrounding buildings.

..we didn't bendover after Pearl Harbor, and we won't bend over now!...

I say again, you can't relate this mad venture to Pearl Harbour.

Such ludicrous analogies only show your desperation.

...France has always been against the US except when their bacon needed to be saved in WW's I & II....

That's completely untrue.

They were your allies in the last Gulf War, for starters.

...drop a 12 megaton whopper on Baghdad....

That kind of insanity would be good for about five consecutive Dem administrations.

'Conservatives' like you ought to be put in the rubber room.

Oh, for the Gipper's down home commonsense, about now.

Do you think he'd be threatening nukes, like this president? Or do you think instead he'd handle the whole problem with maximum effect, and minimum noise?

Dream on, mate.

No real conservative could support this planned war. All Bush has given us is a rejuvenation of the Left with a side salad of tanked economy. Meantime the real enemy, rampant liberalism, marches on.

Bull feces. the French follow the path of least resistance. Had the rest of the world not been on the save Kuwait wagon, the Snail Eaters would have been whining then too. The French supplied on a small token for show.

THE REST OF THE DOESN'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS, BECAUSE IT'S ALWAYS THE U.S. WHO SENDS IT'S SONS AND DAUGHTERS AND MONEY TO DIE TO SAVE THEM. IF WE CAN SOLVE A PROBLEM NOW WITH 10% LESS CAUSULTIES THAN IF WE WAIT UNTILL A CONFLICT STARTS ON THE ENEMY'S TIMETABLE, THE REST OF THE WORLD DOESN'T GIVE A CAMEL'S A$$ BECAUSE IT'S U.S. BLOOD THAT'S SHED, NOT THE LITTLE PISSANT EURO-WEENIES'.
