"...download the song If I Left You and hear samples from others."I did and I like her sound. Reminds me a bit of Trish Murphy, who also sings the Austin country sound.

"Communism Lives!!"As we prepare to watch President George Bush give his State of the Union address on Tuesday, we think back to Jan. 18 when Saddam's surrogates were in town protesting any use of force against Iraq. In scenes reminiscent of the anti-draft, peace-at-any-price days of Vietnam, some 70,000 demonstrators rallied, marched and orated in Washington and as many again were doing the same in San Francisco. There were smaller efforts in other American cities, along with shows of even greater anti-American enthusiasm surging in some foreign capitals. It was a media bonanza for Saddam, who is approaching near-martyr status in some parts of the media. The news was full of people's concerns about the consequences of war on personal safety, their pocket books, economic recovery. No one seemed concerned about who had organized this demonstration. Neither did anyone demand an accounting for the costs or where the money came from to pay the bills. On the other hand, some are concerned about such things and we have uncovered facts that point us to some answers. COMMUNISTS REUNITE!!"

"...don't ever compare Trish Murphy to Kelly Willis..."Why? Because the New York and Nashville execs hate her? I thinks she's great. She is very popular in the underground country music market. Her genre might even be termed Americana rather than country.

Absolutely not. She's a very nice person, as in she's nice . . . but a total liberal. Ergo the use of the word "but." If I think about anything, it was how she junked a good career and took all these wild risks because she cares so much about roots music. She's sweet.
All I really think about nowadays when I hear a song is: (1) is that Norah Jones; (2) if not, why not; and (3) she [Norah Jones] better win a Grammy.
To: jla
I'm a snob, too, you know. Don't go assuming I'm not. :P
