I wonder if Ferdinand reads Free Republic? ;) If so, I can say - well done.

Regards, Ivan

Thank you, my friend, for posting a touch of common sense from across the pond. I knew there had to be some of that, somewhere on the premises. I mean, other than the common sense which you regularly post on FR.

I took up the same subject on UPI this week, and managed the trick while mentioning France and Germany only once each. First link below.

As the politician formerly known as Al Gore has said, Buy my book, "to Restore Trust in America"

How distant now seem the days immediately after September 11, when Le Monde could run the headline “Nous sommes tous des Américains”.

Pouf! Connaisez savon? Savon?? Pouf!! Monde-lisants! Parlez-vous allemand? Non? Savez vous pourquoi? Bah..... #$%^&!!

"No doubt France and Germany will in due course recover that marvellous post-war elan which took them from their ground zero to the heights of the 1960s and 1970s. But it is silly to pretend they have begun to recover it yet."

That 'elan' was the Marshall plan. Don't look for a repeat in our lifetimes. This time, they will have to dig themselves out of the hole that Marx built for them.

MadIvan,

You folks need to plug the Chunnel immediately! Restrict entry of the the FRENCH, members in good standing of the AXIS of WEASELS, a snotty nation of ingrates, hairy armpitted and legged femmes, rude effiminate waiters, socialists w/ such an inflated unbsubstantiated sense of self importance that they believe no dirt sticks to them and they therefore have no need to bathe, 50% OF WHOM WERE SUPORTERS OF NAZI GENOCIDE IN THE PAST AND OF ISLAMIC JIHADISTS AT PRESENT, WITH A RECORD OF THE SALE OF BREEDER REACTORS TO NATIONS KNOWN TO BE RULED BY PSYCHOTICS, A NATION DUMB ENOUGH TO SELL OUT TO THE NAZIS AGAIN AFTER MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE 60 AND A FEW ODD YEARS AGO, NOT ENOUGH INTEGRITY TO HONOR A SIX MONTH OLD AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTRY THAT SAVED THEIR SORRY UNBATHED BUTTS WITH IT'S BLOOD AND TREASURE TWICE, AN INCONSEQUENTIAL NATION WITH NOTHING OF VALUE TO OFFER THE WORLD EXCEPT A FEW INTERESTING CAVE PAINTINGS (evidence that they at least once made an attempt at civilized culture).

If the Islamic/French/German AXIS OF WEASELS has any value at all, it is to illustrate to the world what happens when a so-called civilized nation makes deals with a bunch of camel-riding cave people whose civilization hasn't advanced in 1000 years. I hope the Islamic conquerers of France turn the Eiffel Tower into the world's tallest minaret and make the Frogs all use their white surrender flags for prayer rugs as they are forced at the point of a gun to knell, face Mecca and chant nonsense 24 times a day.

No doubt France and Germany will in due course recover that marvellous post-war elan which took them from their ground zero to the heights of the 1960s and 1970s.

Right, wasn't that called, "The Marshall plan"?

Seems like the US had something to do with that, but I could be wrong. I got an early education.

Yeh - I'd guess somebody's been lurking at FR...

I must admit I'm a little mystified at the impact the seemingly innocuous phrase "that's old Europe" had in a time of such rhetorical rabidity that terms commonly used in Europe for Bush and his country would not only make a nun blush, they'd stupefy a dockworker. Can members of a continent that so recently underwent an epochal bloodbath possibly delude themselves into denying what's at stake here? Can the same flip superficiality that dismisses Bush as a Texas cowboy and his country as a bunch of unlettered bullies possibly hold thugs like Saddam up as strong and admirable, albeit just a tiny bit murderous? Is this the final IOU written against longstanding intelluctual bankruptcy? Can these people possibly be real?

Excellent post! I was wondering if Britain got a whiff of how incensed Americans are. My man Rummy said it right. "Axis of Weasel" has really taken-off. More here:
