A young NDPer [the NDP are the WAY loony left party in Canada] was shilling T-shirts bearing the motto "Capitalism sucks" on the convention floor. Asked if they were free, the salesman looked bewildered. Turns out they were $15 a pop. "They're union made," he said, sensing the irony. "It's all very ethical."
He said the proceeds were being donated to a youth wing of the party. They sold briskly.
THE NATIONAL POST SUCKS
Speaking of profit, the woman selling lapel buttons for $2.25 -- and up -- was one of the most popular people at the convention.
Buttons bearing Gordon Campbell's face that read "Make the Bad Man Stop" were a hit. So was the George W. Bush button with the slogan "An Insult to Morons."
Our personal favourite? A tiny white button with black letters: "The National Post Sucks."
Other pins of note: "Kiss Me, I'm a Terrorist," "Nurses know shit when they see it," and "God grant me the authority to change the things I cannot accept." Oh, and one could not forget: "War is menstruation envy." No word on how well those sold.

"God grant me the authority to change the things I cannot accept." This one is both very true of the liberal mindset, and more than a little scary.

What is a Canada? Oh wait..it is a country. They must not be relevant.

Until you get to the "Kiss Me, I'm a Terrorist" button. The first time around I read that as "Kill me, I'm a terrorist". I like my version better.

Until you get to the "Kiss Me, I'm a Terrorist" button. I must have a rare form of dyslexia, but to me that looks like "Punch me, I'm a terrorist"

You sound like you do not think these kind of assh*les exist south of the border, or even in N.C, or Durham maybe. This may come as a bit of a surprise. It is not about Canada/USA,it is about liberals vs conservatives which are not defined by borders. You kicked yours out of office, our election is yet to come. So save the sarcasm for the real enemy and don't insult our country. We are relevant and the same applies to the Germans and to a lesser extent, the French. This scrap is a loooong way from over and while I have no doubt America could go it alone, having allied supporters is better.

We are relevant and the same applies to the Germans and to a lesser extent, the French. I am a canukophile. Nevertheless, your country's elected leaders have a created a public relations problem in the US. You are not doing anything to solve that by aligning your interests with those of France/Germany. We all know Canada will be there when called upon. Whether France shows up or not, the damage is done.
To: canuckwest
well said, we are all in the same boat, fighting the same forces of socialism and decadence in each country.
