Yeah.
It's funny how they keep changing back and fourth from English to French and so fourth.
This parliament has some elements of western-like parliaments and some of the British parliament.

I would be cool if President Bush could join a debate in Congress once and while.

Question Hour is the most interesting aspect of Parliament's work. Its the one time the opposition can hold the Government accountable for its policies, plans, and actions. Ministers have to defend not just Government policy as laid down by the Cabinet; they're answerable for the conduct of their particular portfolio. And not even the Prime Minister can escape the hot seat... ;-)

My line was from an old Peter Sellers comedy.

If you're watching Canadian Parliament you'll notice that the person speaking addresses the speaker, "Mr Speaker". The speaker being the guy at the end on the "throne" , between the two sides. He's the Judge, Jury and Executioner , all rolled in to one. Break a rule and he'll kick you out. The members address him when asking a question. Not the actual respondent. Keeps order. And name calling and threats at a minimum. The rule being you don't directly ask the guy you're trying to embarrass.

In a historical side-note, the Confederate Constitution allowed cabinet secretaries to be involved with congressional floor debates over bills that affected their respective departments.

The Speaker of the Canadian House Of Commons like his British counterpart is a non-partisan presiding officer expected to make sure the rules of the House are observed and that both Government and Opposition members get the chance to have their say during the proceedings.

I don't it allowed members of the Confederate Congress to serve in the President's Cabinet without giving up their seats.
