Quite the inverse.

I thought it a testament to her rise, that they didn't show her, because Bush spent a goodly portion of the Address Slamming her, and Her Husband. First the 'not leaving problems for another administration' then 'no socialized medicine' then the endless slams at the feckless foreign policy "in the 1990s"....

You'll notice they did not extend the same courtesy to Edwards, when he took trial lawyers to the shed....

Lieberman is an Orthodox Jew the way Gay Davis is a faithful Catholic.

Even Lieberman can't be stupid enough to risk his life by getting between VP Hitlery and the Presidency.

Juan Williams seemed genuinely impressed with what Bush said about helping children of prisoners and AIDS victims in Africa.

Question: where does the Constitution authorize federal programs for mentoring the children of prisoners? For helping AIDS victims (in Africa or otherwise)?

I was disgusted (as usual) by the speech. My former party has completely abandoned even the pretense that they're for limited government or the Constitution. The difference between the Demoncrats and the Pubs is merely a matter of degrees.

"After four double scotches a half hour before,"

Four drinks wouldn't even faze teddy. It takes a fifth to get him up to his normal BAC of 0.15. He floats best at 0.2 and is still sailing at 0.3. And I will bet on it.

A drinking contest between him and Molly Ivens would be something to behold.

"It was quite a moment for the new Minority Leader in the House. The camera panned to her and she burst out laughing like a teenager with the giggles."

How could you tell she was laughing? She has one expression: a bug-eyed death's head grin. Her face is as stiff as saddle leather.

Well now Dave, normally I would be inclined to agree, but don't stop at the Average savings of 1000$ line Lets go over The next 2 sentences

The tax relief is for everyone who pays income taxes -- and it will help our economy immediately: 92 million Americans will keep, this year, an average of almost $1,000 more of their own money. A family of four with an income of $40,000 would see their federal income taxes fall from $1,178 to $45 per year

And exactly where is the rhetorical sleight of hand?

I thought the funniest moment from the State of the Union Address was when the camera panned on John Edwards sitting there on his hands (and, I thought, looking terribly self-conscious) when Bush was getting applauded after he talked about medical malpractice lawsuits and said that "nobody was ever healed by a frivolous lawsuit".

Faces of the Democratic terrorists told it all. They have lost the war on Bush.
Hillary came as Baby Jane. Lipstick applied with a trowel, courtesy of the International Brotherhood of Bricklayers.
Poor Daschel seemed to be struggling all night with a constipation problem.
Lieberman looked like he'd just had his face lifted by Michael Jackson's surgeon.
Kerry could have passed as Abe Lincoln in the third week of his embalmment.
Ted Kennedy looked like the king of France with two golden gravy spoons stuck in his cheeks.
Rev. Al Sharpie apparently unaware that a little dab 'ill do ya, wasted a whole tube of Brillcreme for the occasion.

"Question: where does the Constitution authorize federal programs for mentoring the children of prisoners? For helping AIDS victims (in Africa or otherwise)?"

You are correct in saying the federal government has been expanded and exercises power beyond the plain reading of the Constitution. Both Republicans and Democrats are guilty of this power grab.

Lessening federal power is not likely to happen. I console myself by saying the money Bush promised for African AIDS and the children of prisoners mentoring is peanuts compared to the promise of drugs for seniors. The drugs for seniors was something like 400 billion and that is a very scary number. That program will break the economy and cause young taxpayers to vote to euthanize their parents and grandparents.

He did exactly what Bush planned to have happen when he deliberately chose to pander to the left. But don't get me wrong, it was a great speech.

Saw it too. The marginalization of the socialists continues.

2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten, I get real tired of posting this...

Ms. Pelosi and her fellow-traveling, lick-spittle lackey comrades are not 'Socialists'. Neither are they 'leftists', or 'progressives' or 'liberals' or any other such newspeak bullshit.

They are hard-core, unrepentant 'neo-Stalinists' and nothing but.

Geeze, I could really use some help down here in the language war.

Her face contorted like she was stuck with a cattle prod as she tried to control her outburst. It was not what a normal person would consider smiling and it was not pretty.
