What happened to the mandatory direct deposit idea? Maybe that was just here in Iowa. If I recall, the recipients are given something like debit/ATM cards instead of checks. Maybe it's only for food stamp recipients.
I'm sure one of the benefits is avoidance of that awful "stigma." ;-/ We wouldn't want those suckling from the gubmint teat to feel any discomfort about it.
