But Schumer & Co., plumbing the depths of demagoguery, still hope to block the nomination of a man guilty only of a refusal to embrace left-wing political orthodoxies.

That is such a great (and true) comment.

It doesn't work. He goes there, and then he comes back. The last time he brought Satan's sister with him.

The Democrats are completely delusional and on autopilot.

And not a very good autopilot. Several years ago I was allowed to tour the bridge of a cruise ship. They were showing off the autopilot and commented they needed to always have someone on the bridge, since the autopilot would blithly run them aground if left to its own devices.

Senator Putz

My recollection is that Al Damato actually christened him as 'Putzhead'. A minor distinction to be sure, but somehow more appropriate.

Trial lawyers are the largest organization of character assassins and they support the Democrats with big bucks and provide superb training for current and future Democrats. More centrist courts would eviscerate the ability of Democrats to promote their agenda by character assassination.

The American Bar Association (hardly a far-right bastion) unanimously rated him "well-qualified"

I don't know that this is a good thing. Any time the ABA endorses someone like that, my caution light comes on. Nothing noted in this article of qualifications would tell me that he knows the difference between right and wrong. "Qualified" doesn't quite cut it.

President Eisenhower thought that Earl Warren knew right from wrong, but admitted later that Warren's appointment was "..the biggest damn fool mistake I ever made."
