Sabotage would only be possible prelaunch...but they triple check the vehicle and the checklists were criticized by Clinton NASA people because they "took an army" to get through.

They're all gone. This is horrible.

My prayers for all the workers at KSC as well. I helped launch the Challenger and know what they are going through right now.

an interesting coincidence:

apollo 204 fire -- january 29, 1967

challenger disaster -- january 28, 1986

columbia disaster -- february 1, 2003

all within a week in the calendar year.

At the time of the breakup they are at Mach 6 and 200,000 feet. No way to survive.

Over California and Nevada they were doing massive turns to kill speed. That's when they lost commo. These turns had something to do with it, IMO.

Could too many lost heat tiles be the cause?

Multiple tails?
If they had people with video, that means it did enter the earth's atmosphere. But what about multiple tails?

I heard a very loud and unusual booming noise about 30 minutes ago. I'm just a little north of Dallas.

This is a sad day for us all.

It is so frustrating and unfair to have this happen on this flight.

It is very bad news to now hear on CNN that Palatine Texas has heard impact.

I'm afraid you're right. The shuttle has exploded during the re-entry over Texas.

That matches with what I saw as it went overhead. After it left my field of view I suddently realized that something didn't look right... There were multiple glowing objects that looked like they were coming off the craft.
