Doc,

When I was at accident investigation school, I read an edited transcript that I was told was from the actual CVR tape of the Space Shuttle Challenger. It was chilling--they were alive after the explosion. The shuttle commander called for emergency checklists--the co-pilot explained that there was no orbiter to run the checklists on. Judith Resnik tried to comfort Christie McAllif--who then fainted. One of the crewmember then led them in the 23rd Psalm.

I believe the transcript was legitimate--because our instructor later told us how NASA had spent much time and $$$ researching an "escape" mechanism for the crew compartment--but all was abandoned because the solutions were not feasible due to weight and other restrictions.

I am not a shuttle expert by any means--so perhaps someone here knows more about it--but I do not believe an escape was possible for them.

There was a fake one going around. NASA said there was no communication and no black box info.

Oh, I never knew there was proof they lived after the explosion on challanger,,I wondered about that for a long time. This is so sad and terrible, just last week we were all thinking about the challenger, I called my daughter who was with me then and she had just turned on the tv. This is so similar, those lovely young astronauts, gone now. It must be of some comfort to their families that they were doing what they loved and in service to their country and to humanity. I think we ought to ban the talk of politics and DU and Saddamn now,,it is the mmomment to think about these people, that can come later.

I just don't believe this. The existence of such a transcript is the secret too big to keep.

Balderdash.

The main rocket the Challenger set upon went up like a giant bomb. We have all seen the results.

The astronauts were killed instantly.

The only people who have said otherwise are sick sadists who enjoy hurting the families of those killed.
