If Asian or European immigrants had moved into your neighborhood it's likely that you wouldn't have had to write this article.

So you don't mind rude store clerks and signs only in Korean, do you?

Anyway, you can't generalize. "Hispanics" encompass a variety of ethnic and racial groups. Most of the Latin Americans I worked with at my International Bank were just as pale as I am (and sometimes paler!). My main cohort, for example, was a Colombian of English ancestry.

Does Manhattan still have the proliferation of Korean corner markets?

When I lived on Nassau in 1982, I had to walk up to Chambers to an all night Korean market to buy coffin nails. A cold walk in mid winter...but of course jonesing for a pack of Reds is a strong motivator...lol....glad I switched to La Gloria Cubanas.....cold turkey is much more managable.

"Hispanic" countries tend to be racially stratified, with the middle-class and upper-middle-class tending to be of mostly-European descent, and the lower classes being of mostly-Native descent.
