Lenny Kravitz isn't popular among black youth today because he plays more classic guitar rock. I always knew he was half white but I didn't know his mother was Helen from The Jeffersons and his dad produced the show. Weird. Anyway, I reason that's why mostly white girls like him. I never got into Kravitz because I don't like 'fros. I like Prince but don't love him.

I remember rap when it was really rap and also very clean. Everyone in my grade school class wanted to rap and be a dee-jay. Back then many of the black kids I knew weren't into crack, gang banging, etc. UNTIL rap turned ugly. Yes I know all the rationalizations.. oh they're talking about their experiences with cops, white racism, etc. That's crap. I noticed the immediate decline. All of a sudden you were accused of being white if you studied in class, teenage girls getting pregnant, and boys going to jail en masse. So I ask people, what exactly has rap done for today's black youth? I see more rank materialism, trashy ho's like Lil Kim, and more black racism and bitterness than every before.
When you talk about problems and not solutions to those problems, all you do get more bitter, more angry, and filled with hate.

Eminem had a hard life because his parents were horrible, and he gang banged with the street thugs. That's why he is so well liked in the black rap industry. He has a few good beats, but I could never play him out loud.

I like Lenny...my wife really likes him. It's quite a bit of chick rock....which is fine because in the early 70s when I came of age (the Classic Rock era) very few girls really liked the harder stuff...they were still more Top 40 oriented....I'm serious.

Prince....man ...women love him. I like his early work up to about the "Cream" time period. He could play a nasty guitar (like Zappa) but you only got it in small doses.

His new stuff is Prince-lite and doesn't do much for me.

Yes....even as an outsider, I watched rap devolve. Were groups like NWA and Public Enemy the start of the negativism....lol....Chuck D is an old fart like me now.
