If you have never hear of the Ronnettes, Darlen Love, Bobby Sox and the Blue Jeans, The Shirelles, etc. then you have never hear of Phil Spector!

He is the guy who perfected the "wall of sound" music production style of the 60s that was so popular among girl groups and others. The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson has said he aspired to reproduce the Spector sound on such hits as "Good Vibrations" etc.

Phil Spector created the "Wall of Sound" genre of rock in the early-60s. Known for being exceedingly eccentric, especially when it comes to stereophonic recordings. (He hates them; thinks everything should be in mono.)

I guess not, since there's no report of an L.A.-style slow-speed chase.

Phil Spector is among the greatest producers of rock and roll. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame in 1989.

Phil Spector is the record producer who came up with the "wall of sound" used by many of those groups he produced for.

Think of The Righteous Brothers in You've Lost That Lovin'Feeling and a lot of the girl groups from the 60s - Ronettes' Soldier Boy.

Spector has been known for years to suffer paranoid schizophrenia. This is no surprise.

life's the same i'm moving in stereo
life's the same except for my shoes
life's the same you're shaking like tremolo
life's the same it's all inside you
it's so easy to blow up your problems
it's so easy to play up your breakdown
it's so easy to fly through a window
it's so easy to fool with the sound
it's so tough to get up
it's so tough
it's so tough to live up
it's so tough on you

From the linked story @ post #7.

...his family's legacy of mental illness.

That's a shame. I'll expect a E! network story on him soon.

He also is the only other person than George Martin to produce a Beatle album, "Let it Be". Basically the recordings from January 1969 were a mess and they landed on hi lap.

I think Paul McCartney said that he butchered the song "The Long and Winding Road" by adding strings, although a lot of people praise him for restoring Lennon's 67 song, "Across the Universe".

Looking at the pictures and looks like he has a nice damn estate.

BTW, why is the middle of the LP of my copy of "Let It Be" a red apple instead of a green apple. Could never figure that out.
