CLINTON WAS 'A CIA SPY'
Sky News (UK) ^ | February 6, 2003 | N/A

Posted on 02/06/2003 6:35:34 AM PST by H8DEMS

Former US President Bill Clinton was a spy for the CIA while studying at Oxford University, it has been claimed.

British journalist Christopher Hitchens says Mr Clinton was working as a double agent while they were students together at Oxford.

He reported to the intelligence agency on fellow opponents of the Vietnam war while a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford in 1968, the columnist alleged.

"I think he was a double agent," Mr Hitchens told right-wing Washington magazine Doublethink.

Draft-dodging

"Somebody was giving information to (the CIA) about the anti-war draft resisters, and I think it was probably him."

President Clinton was frequently criticised by opponents for alleged draft-dodging.

They claimed he studied at Oxford in order to avoid conscription and being forced into the Vietnam conflict.

Mr Hitchens, who was critical of Mr Clinton during his presidency, said they also shared a girlfriend during their college years.

Radical lesbian

She has since become a "very famous radical lesbian", he went on.

He added: "So one of us was doing something wrong, or right."

Wouldn't surprise me. Bill Clinton will betray anyone, even his closest friends.

Hillary is famous, if not infamous.

This allegation came out in the mid-nineties when Roger Morris put it in his book, Partner's in Power. Ambrose Evans Pritchard gave the allegation additional coverage in 1996, but I don't understand why it's news simply because Hitchens mentions it in 2003...

It wouldn't surprise me if he WAS doing this, as he likes to play both sides. This was his earliest effort at triangulation.

Plus, as another freeper said yesterday (and I'm sorry I don't remember who) "What better way to avoid the draft, get some cash, and still be able to pick up babes?"

Is that why he went to Moscow to march in Red Square? Now it all makes sense. (sarcasm)

We don't know what he was but we know what he wasn't--a good student at Oxford.

It depends on what the meaning of "was," was.

I'm just thankful he's past tense.

One would think that if true, the Slick One would have made sure we knew about this during one of his personal crisis situations or elections. Perhaps he just never played that card, but it seems unlikely know him the way we all do.

Good question. Possibilities:

1. Clinton putting it out to make himself seem patriotic, as there is probably something more damaging about to surface.

2. Our CIA is putting it out, to get some payback for his machinations against the war on terror behind the scenes. If he is thought to have ever been in the pay of the CIA, he would have zero credibility with the leftists here and abroad.

3. He has been given a warning by someone that he needs to shut up. Maybe this came from the former KGB operative in Moscow, who must have LOTS of interesting information about him. I would be so happy if Putin was doing us a favor. I lean to this theory because it came from Hitchens, who would not normally be a conduit of the CIA or of Clintonistas.

Maybe it's becoming news now because Bush & Co. want to send a message to Clinton they'll blow all the doors off on the past CIA history if he keeps spouting off his mouth in public. That would be my guess.
