This is how her husband worked some of his runs in the past. Announce that you're not going to run while having your teams out there pushing your name, nudging the right people, building public sentiment to ask him to run.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she responded to the wishes of the voters and forced herself to run for 2004. I have no doubt that her ego is edging her on, she recalls her husband's victory of G.H.W. Bush and she's also not getting the amount of limelight she desires as a junior Senator.

FWIW inside beltway info from Larry Nichols says she is planning to run for the 2004 presidency. Count on it. He claims she is being given the issue of jobs that the other dems are for the most part ignoring so far.

I think you're exactly right!

I just a few other comments though. I agree, I don't think she'll run unless she is confident Bush will lose - and for that reason she's hoping the war will go bad and so too the economy.

However, I think she will wait until the Convention to accept a draft nomination. This way she avoids all the wrangling with other candidates, she avoids all the debates, and she skates into the challenger position with NO BAGGAGE from the campaign; no primnary elections to pass, and no costs of a campaign either.

Also ... I don't think she will have much of a chance if she stays married to x42. He is definitely an albatross around her neck. If she won't get rid of him - it lessens her chances of any success at all.

This is exactly what she did in New York. Remember when she "wasn't" going to run for Senator? And she won, even as a carpetbagger. (As much as I love New York, I detest "Manhattan" politics.)

I think she has (and is working on) responses for every item for which she'll be attacked, even the Hillary HealthScare of 1993-1994. In today's climate on that particular issue, she could wipe out her loss as if it never existed.

I believe she is a truly manipulative politician and can convince the sheeple of anything. Look, she got that seat on the security committee, didn't she? Did we hear any opposition from anyone on that BEFORE it happened? That's how she wins...inch by inch...until she's cleared the way to move a mile.

She's an evil socialist to the core.

It's exactly her plan....wait to see if the party DEMAND her annointing as their leader. They probably will nominate her by acclamation. She's all they've got.

Bump for Pat Paulson.
