They have the "high" Orange flag up now.

Sorry. My mistake. What word does red represent?

Someone needs to tell the Homeland Security people to get the public health people moving.

President Bush needs to get a clue and make the smallpox vaccine available on a voluntary basis, immediately. Our money paid for it. This delay is one of the most stupid, unconscionable blunders of his Presidency.

He wants us to pay for prescription drugs for other people, but not to have the vaccine that we paid for. President Bush's hypocrisy in the area of medicine is not especially endearing.

Try adjusting the "tint" on your TV, or do what I always do, go out tomorrow and buy a TV twice as big as your current one.

Yeah, sounds like good advice, he said smilingly.

Low Condition (Green). This condition is declared when there is a low risk of terrorist attacks.

Guarded Condition (Blue). This condition is declared when there is a general risk of terrorist attacks.

Elevated Condition (Yellow). An Elevated Condition is declared when there is a significant risk of terrorist attacks. In addition to basic security measures, the administration recommends that federal departments and agencies consider increasing surveillance of critical locations, coordinating and reevaluating emergency plans.

High Condition (Orange). A High Condition is declared when there is a high risk of terrorist attacks.

In addition to the measures taken in the previous threat conditions, the administration recommends federal departments and agencies take the following steps: taking additional precautions at public events and possibly considering alternative venues or even cancellation; preparing to execute contingency procedures, such as moving to an alternate site or dispersing their workforce; and restricting threatened facility access to essential personnel only.

Severe Condition (Red). A Severe Condition reflects a severe risk of terrorist attacks. The protective measures for a Severe Condition are not intended to be sustained for substantial periods of time.

President Bush needs to get a clue

Excuse me! If anyone in this country has a clue - it is President Bush. Who has been confronting Iraq, demanding they disarm, putting the U.N. on notice, working constantly on bringing the stupid countries into awareness of the threat? Who is it going to war over biological/chemical and nuclear weapons in Iraq? Who is it that stood up to the terrorists, went after them and continues to go after them? Who is it that developed the Homeland Security Department in order to reorganize all the ineffective Clinton-tainted malfunctioning agencies that secure this country?

George W. Bush - that is who. There is not a stronger defender of our freedom than President Bush.

Excuse me! If anyone in this country has a clue - it is President Bush.

Take my quote in context. I was referring to smallpox, and the President hasn't gotten around to doing what was obviously needed from the start: make the vaccine available immediately, to volunteers.

There is no legitimate public health reason why he hasn't already done this. None. Nor does any aspect of your post address that.

Bush has hemmed and hawed and still more than 120 million Americans have never been vaccinated for smallpox, and most of the rest could use a booster. There is no excuse for this failure. Whatever the risk of a smallpox attack, it is only heightened by this delay, and that buck stops with President Bush.

Lets see we harbor terrorists then we fight against the one country willing to try to stop them
We claim no such threat exists...we bad mouth anyone who is critical of Iraq
And go out and buy a whole bunch of smallpox vaccine?
Perhaps by verbally opposing their enemie's enemy Germany is appeasing terrorists hoping to escape the terror...
It worked so well with Hitler...ah theres the rub and the attraction to terrorists imo

In Germany, noone will get the vaccine until the virus breaks out and we have the first proven case in North America or Europe. If it comes to that point, then our medical personnel, police, military, fireworkers etc will get the vaccination first. Then - if the first proven case of smallpox is reported in Germany, the whole nation will get the shot. Then, it´s not too late, because it´s enough to receive it within 4-5 days. The vaccination itself will lead to several hundreds of deads, that´s the risk with smallpox. Could be problematic if the first reported case of smallpox in Germany comes from a US soldier, whose vaccination lead to a outbreak of the virus. *shudder*

This report was just posted on the Welt news site. How in the H... will Schroeder and his Greens explain this?

BND has detailed knowledge over weapons in Iraq according to "Focus"

Munich (dpa) The Bundesnachrichtendienst (or, CIA /lj) allegedly has detailed knowledge of the existence of biological and chemical weapons in Iraq reports "Focus". The magazine has a BND analysis available. The dossier states: "Iraq has in all probability B and C weapons." The dossier dates from late fall of last year.

They are ordering smallpox vaccine, but don't believe that Iraq poses any sort of WMD threat?

Isn't that about as stupid as that idiot Nancy Pelosi, who said Iraq has no WMD, but says we should not attack Iraq, because they might use WMD on our troops?

The opposition has called the government to inform the public and the Security Council about these detailed informations. The BND has informed the parliaments committee of foreign affairs in November, but because of their obligation to be silent, the members of parliament may not talk - only the government can!

Morgen Michael:

If the BND has had this since last fall, Schroeder's government has been spewing out the "let the inspectors do their job" line, and supporting Iraq's claim that it has no WMD while in possesion of reports from their own intelligence agency that claim otherwise...

The plot thickens.

Maybe they, unlike Bush, are still actually looking for al-Qaeda members. Remember them, Mr. President? That sordid threat that we were going to stamp out? The Germans (and British) actually arrested some of them the other day.

At any rate, it's not that "they" (I assume you mean the German federal government officials) dismiss any "WMD threat" from Iraq. Russia also poses a "WMD threat," and has for six decades. Germans oppose starting a war to deal with either one. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.

Though it's easier to gloss this over and simply do some more mindless German-bashing, isn't it?

That´s exactly what we´ll try to find out on Thursday, when it comes to the "government explanation" in the parliament. Schröder has to give answers.

One good place to start looking for Al-Qaeda is Baghdad, where they have an office. An open one, with an address, fax and telephone number. One good place to start stopping smallpox from being unleashed in Germany is in Iraq, where it is likely being manufactured in quantities per minute which the police would take years to find.

The US should support the German police in their hunt for terrorists. It would be nice if you cheered on the US troops going for the source.

Guten Morgen, Michael.

Smallpox vaccine consists of cowpox virus. Cowpox causes a limited infection in humans and renders them immune to smallpox.

No one can get smallpox from the vaccine.

Hi Jim

"No one can get smallpox from the vaccine."

Why do our authorities expect several hundreds of deads when we´re using the vaccine? And it is possible to create the smallpox virus of the vaccine - or where has Iraq these biological weapon from?
