[history]
February 9, 2003 -- AS news of the appalling miseries of women in the Islamic world has piled up, where are the feminists? Where's the outrage?
For a brief moment after 9/11, when pictures of those blue alien-creaturely shapes in Afghanistan filled the papers, it seemed as if feminists were going to have their moment. The Feminist Majority, to its credit, had been publicizing since the mid '90s how Afghan girls were barred from school, how women were stoned for adultery or beaten for showing an ankle or wearing high-heeled shoes, how they were prohibited from leaving the house unless accompanied by a male relative, how they were denied medical help because the only doctors around were male.

Excellent summary in the final paragraph.
Conservatives need to be vociferous in pointing out that W has the best pro-woman record of any president. By liberating women in Afghanistan from the brutality of the Taliban, he has no equal. The role that women play in his administration is also unmatched. The feminists silence condemns them and their cause, both of which will soon be relegated to the ash bin of history.

It is EXACTLY the same kind of tortured language used by American Media and civil liberty groups to block the impeachment of Sink Emperor Clinton!
It is the Socialist conspiracy against Republican and Conservative leaders who do the right thing, but with whom Socialists cannot be seen supporting for fear of loss of political power.
Once again, the Socialist credo rears its ugly head:
POWER AT ALL COSTS

This is an excellent article that illustrates the intellectual dishonesty that passes for "academia" in today's sick world. The Femininst Movement has long ago lost ALL credibility with the double standards they have displayed. They hold Democrats (Clinton) to a lesser standard than Republicans (Packwood, Thomas, etc...) and they will NEVER say anything bad against Blacks or Muslims. In their six world, if a Black Man rapes a White Woman, he's not really to blame because the "root cause" is societal racism that caused him to be frustrated and violent. They'll also rationalize Muslim violence against Women along the same lines. Also, they will NEVER support a war by a Republican President, but they seemed to have no problem when Clinton bombed in Kosovo.

An impressive article, from an eloquent and unflinching commentator.
If there's any greater obscenity in present-day politics than the willingness of Western "feminists" to perpetuate the abysmal, oppressive squalor of the tyrannized women of the Islamic world, simply because they cannot abide the conservative, Christian, pro-life, Republican President who'll be their deliverer, I can't imagine what it is. Obviously, it does them no credit at all -- and it calls into question the "benevolence" of the leftist alliances so determined to thwart American liberation of the Middle East.
"Liberation of the Middle East?" you say? "I thought this was just about Iraq." For the moment, my friends. All things in their time.

N.O.W. has proven itself to be nothing more than a tentacle of the democratic party, the deafening silence emanating from this "organization" while Clinton defiled their "sista", and then lied to the world about it is damning evidence to any thinking person. There are reports that large "donations" from Washington went into N.O.W. coffers during the spectacle to keep friction to a minimum. They are but one tentacle, others being the NAACP,NPR, Teachers Unions, Trial Lawyers, and most of the screen actors guild. The list goes on.

Nah! Its nowhere near that complicated. These organizations have been so inflitrated and co-opted by democrats that they are merely tools of the democrats used for the purpose of attaining POWER. Therefore, they will use the "lever" of their central philosopy to attack opposition but NEVER the DNC.
This all became clear when feminists rallied around clinton. This group would no more help W, than they would condemn a sexual harrassing rapist president(who also was a demorat).

Today's "feminists" are not bright enough to follow the logic here. All they know is knee-jerk support of the democratic party. They have no idea what real feminism is, or all the good they could be doing in the names of its original founders. Feminism has devolved into the shallow idiocy of Lifetime channel movies, lesbian activism, dead children and hillaryitis.

By liberating women in Afghanistan from the brutality of the Taliban, he [W] has no equal ummm...Wouldn't you say that was sort of a collateral effect of the attack on Afghanistan?
The role that women play in his administration is also unmatched.
that is a stretch...at the least, if you look at the records
The feminists silence condemns them and their cause, both of which will soon be relegated to the ash bin of history
very unlikely, considering it will always be a concept and ideal for some women...and every generation has had, and will have it's feminists

"I must go on shaming daddy".
It is obvious that these women have nothing but contempt for all things masculine. They have demonized an entire gender of the human species, the gender to which they owe every freedom they enjoy. They have betrayed those to which they owe everything. To my mind, feminism is a mental illness.
Somewhere at the heart of their pathology is a hatred for their father that they project onto all men.

Now wait a minute... in the interest of being well-informed, I actually read MS. magazine sometimes... they have and do talk about these atrocities, A LOT. I'm not defending feminists across the board, but they are the ones I first heard from concerning these matters. It's not all abortions and Master's golf tournaments.

Just lip service to sell more feminist magazines. It apparently works.

Not necessarily. Some of us read them in the Barnes & Noble and then toss 'em back on the shelf and buy National Review. LOL!!

ummm...Wouldn't you say that was sort of a collateral effect of the attack on Afghanistan? Let's assume it was entirely collateral. So what? You would deny him credit for the good done? Poll the women in Afghanistan.
that is a stretch...at the least, if you look at the records
I believe women are holding higher ranks in W's administration than in any other administration.
very unlikely, considering it will always be a concept and ideal for some women...and every generation has had, and will have it's feminists
Yes, there will always be feminists, but the brand of vocal feminism that I've grown up with has lost all it's credibility and is essentially dead. Good riddance.

Thank God for Conservative women. LOL
