Attack on America (Reminder of 9-11 and our resolve)
Attack on America at Caldavid.com ^ | Shortly after 9-11-2001 | Anonymous

As we are preparing for war in Iraq, it is a reminder why we are fighting.

I have seen a lot of memorials to 9-11, all wonderful, but I found this to be the most gut-wrenching, realistic and moving, yet ends with showing our great resolve.

It may shake you up, but then, we mustn't forget, as we are facing more challenges.

I had this saved this, and just came across it, I thought many of you will want to watch it and would agree.

onebox: "I know this is an un-PC thing to say here at FreeRepublic, but what did Iraq have to do with 9/11?
They weren't directly responsible in any way.
This kinda stuff makes me want to go after bin Laden, not Saddam."

Did you miss Powell's speech, where he connected Al Qaeda and Iraq?

Also, why don't you read:
http://www.cnn.com/2001/COMMUNITY/10/29/mylroie/index.html

Laurie Mylroie: Is Iraq involved with U.S. terror attacks?

Laurie Mylroie is the author of "Study of Revenge: Saddam Hussein's Unfinished War," which outlines her case that Iraq had a central role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. She served as an adviser on Iraq to the 1992 Clinton presidential campaign. Mylroie is currently vice-president of "Information for Democracy," and the publisher of "Iraq News."

CNN: You believe that Saddam Hussein was involved in both attacks the 1993 and September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Why?

MYLROIE: You can demonstrate to the high legal standard of beyond a reasonable doubt, which is used for criminal conviction, that Iraq was behind the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, by showing that Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of that bomb, was an Iraqi intelligence agent. I do that in "Study of Revenge." That bomb, in 1993, aimed to topple the north tower onto the south tower. Eight years later, someone came back and finished the job. Since Iraq was behind the first attack, it is suggestive of the point that Iraq was behind the second attack.

CHAT PARTICPANT: What is the connection between bin Ladden and Saddam?

MYLROIE: Bin Laden and Hussein work together. The contact between the two was made in the 1990s when bin Laden was based in Sudan. Iraq intelligence also had a major presence in Sudan then. There were other widely reported contacts between bin Laden and Iraq intelligence, such as in December, 1998 when Farook Hajazi traveled to Afghanistan to meet with bin Laden. Hajazi is a senior intelligence officer. Bin Laden provides the ideology, he recruits the foot soldiers, and he provides a smokescreen. Iraqi intelligence provides the direction and training for the terrorism.

MYLROIE: I would like to thank everyone for participating in this discussion today, to remind you to emphasize that we face a very, very serious problem. We must deal correctly with it, or the loss of American lives may be very large. And again, I'd like to let people know about my book. It's currently out as "Study of Revenge," and will be available shortly as "The War Against America," published by Regan Books.

You must have missed Powell's speech, there is a clear connection between Al Queda and Saddam. We need to be behind the President on this.

Iraq had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor. This does not mean it is not a threat to us.

The threat: Iraq makes nukes. Iraq gives nukes to terrorists. Terrorists smuggle nukes into the US. Nukes explode in a major US city. Tens of thousands of US citizens die.

I agree. I am 100% for the war on Iraq, the sooner, the better.

I was quoting part of another poster, onebox's post, and he/she didn't think Iraq is a threat, so my post starting out with that quote, and my not separating it properly gave the incorrect impression that those were my words, when they weren't.

Thanks for sharing. Do you mind if I share with others?

For anyone who doesn't think Saddam isn't involved with terrorism here in the United States, and American interests arount the world, think again. There's tons of evidence.

You can start here.

Was Saddam Involved in OKC Bombing and first WTC bombing?

We should have gutted Iraq years ago for harboring Abu Nadal and other terrorists with American blood on their hands.

Iraq is known to train terrorists in tactics using real airliners as training tools. Even if they had no connection to the airliners of 9/11, they may play a part in the next ones to be hijacked.

They are a both long and short term threats to the USA and the west in general.

Please feel free. The more people see it the more everyone is reminded, and I think we need a reminder right about now, when we are embarking on dangerous, but necessary actions to protect the American people, in fact the entire world for the devastation of weapons of mass destruction.

Just think of the tragedy of 9-11 and think how much worse it would be with WMD.

Dang, they removed "onebox's" comments. I would have left them up as question that has been answered by several in this thread.

I should have read your post more carefully. I have been on the receiving end of angry misinterpretions myself. At least it was an opportunity to sharpen a response to a bad argument.

Sorry -- I don't know how it could have crashed your system. It does take a while to load, so maybe it taxed your system and it froze.

I have broadband and it took a little while even for me, until it loaded, but even on my 500 Mhz PC it ran fine.
