"The message isn't clear so that the average American can identify with it. I don't think we are in touch with the on the economic issues," Would that be the "regular American" discussing issues at the "kitchen table?"

I felt a bit unclean after visiting the link you provided, and I cleared my history file and erased my cookies because of it. ....Sent it to my Rat in-law though, and I'm sure it'll tick him off. On the other hand, his defense mechanisms and capacity for denial are so extreme, it wouldn't surprise me if he attempts to explain away the commie endorsement as some aberration.

Bump for progress.
You should be aware that hchutch is on the record as favoring Amnesty for nearly every Illegal in the country, which you're on the record as opposing.
If he gets his way, you can kiss any progress goodbye.
To: Sabertooth
I believe we all have the same goal...death to present day liberal bullshit. hchutch and Ronald Reagan's views on amnesty are not the same as mine, but valid. Recent elections show that your kiss may be a bit presumptuous, as well.

"
But his biggest complaint is that the party has not put forward a clear, compelling and visible alternative to the president's agenda..."
How long has this been the excuse?
When are they gonna figure it out? Everyone comprehends their alternatives just fine...and they've promptly dismissed them as being Liberal dreams out of pace with the current realities.
Pure denial mixed with a desperate longing for the Clinton Glory Days.
How sad.

At least Reagan had the excuse of not knowing that Amnesty would only bring more of the liberal flim flam. By now, though, the rest of us should know better.

While you are still virile, you will look back fondly on the days when most of our illegals were Hispanic. That is my musing for the evening.

Some say they long for Bill Clinton's ability to shape and market the party's message better.LOFL, translation: Democrats long for another smooth liar.

Given the unswerving daintiness of both parties and the current administration with regard to Illegals, you may well be right.
To: Sabertooth
Given the unswerving daintiness of both parties...You forgot to add the American Voters lusty appetite for affordable gardners, laborers and nannies.
It's easier to blame others, I'm sure.

Or to equivocate. I suppose?
In what elections have the American voters given any politician a mandate to welcome Illegals and grant them Amnesty?
Was Amnesty a Bush platform plank in 2000? Were his fingers crossed when he placed his hand on the Bible and swore to faithfully execute the laws of the land? Were those of other politicians?
To: kattracks
You really have to shake your head at the utter stupidity of the Democrat "leadership". They are alienating a very sizable voting block, the Hispanics, all because of their irrational fear of any judge who takes the US Constitution seriously.
It is my opinion that the Republicans should coldly and relentlessly smash the scumbag Democrats over the head with this fiasco until the anti-Hispanic mindset of the Democrat party becomes "conventional wisdom". This Democrat filibuster of an appelate court nominee - - the first ever - - staggers the mind. The Republicans, especially Bush's people, are playing the Democrats like a fiddle. You have to marvel. They must be laughing their behinds off over champagne.

In what elections have the American voters given any politician a mandate to welcome Illegals and grant them Amnesty? Ridiculous question. The People are hiring, that's all I'm saying.
Buchanon showed how immigration stands as a platform...it's a money maker, period.

No, nor will it be in 2004.

Disingenuous answer. You didn't say "People," you said "American Voters."
Buchanon showed how immigration stands as a platform...it's a money maker, period.
Buchanan showed that never-elected third party candidates don't get elected. Again. Period.
No, nor will it be in 2004.
Because openly supporting Amnesty is a political loser. No politician is ever going to be voted out of office for getting tough with Illegals.

I would hope not, but debatable (debateable?).

Yet at #37, you attemtpted to make a distinction. Make up your mind.
There is a reason why the voters aren't given the opportunity to make a choice against Illegals: because they would.
Ever wonder why we have school bonds, police bonds fire department bonds... but never "goodies for Illegals" bonds?

Over whom? The Padres?
