[history]
State Republicans have decided to "take off the gloves" and launch tough attacks on Democratic U.S. Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chuck Schumer, The Post has learned. The attacks, slated to begin in the next few days, represent a sharp turnabout for New York Republicans, who for the past two years avoided taking on top Democrats as Gov. Pataki moved to the political left and courted Democratic re-election support.

It's a good news morning. These two radical liberals are fair game. Hitlery's been living off her status as the "untouchable First Lady" for far too well. Both Schumer and Hitlery have not been good NY advocates.
Hitlery's "Stepford Democrats" will not be amused. Too bad.

It creates a certain amount of hypocrisy with Pataki playing left field and Bloomberg to the left of the Democrats. The rank and file Republicans have their work cut out for them.

Pro-abortion Pataki and Bloomberg (a former Dim) are RINOS.
Pataki won reelection handily against Clinton-backed Carl McCall. Bloomie is not very popular for many reasons (taxes, anti-smoking).
Sometimes expedient politicians do strange things to gain popularity.

From D'Amato and Moynihan to Schumer and Clinton in four short years? What was New York thinking?
It's all Hillary!'s fault, of course.

Sorry, Liz: Usually I agree with what you write, but Bloomberg is not a RINO. He is a through and through Demodog who simply registered Pubby in order to avoid the more expensive and more contentious primary for mayor on the dim side. I have seen nothing in his manner or his policies which are remotely Republican. It is a disservice even to RINOs to assign Bloomberg to that group rather than to the Demodogs.

The one semi-Pubbie thing candidate Bloomie said - although in typical political fashion he will do nothing about it seeing it to fruition - is that prayer in schools was OK.

About flaming time!!!! How come Miss Hitlery has been above questioning and above the law? Who made her 'untouchable' - the liberal press?

I'll take a wait and see attitude. When N.Y. Repubs 'take off the gloves' it usually means they are ready for their manicure...

The sad part is that the two reasons for attacking Chuckie Cheese Schumer and Hitlery---their supposed inability to bring home the bacon as RINO sellout D'Amato did, and Pataki wanting to make a national move---are disgraceful and disingenuous.
Turn it around: the state is being larded with gobs of federal pork and Pataki has no national aspirations. What the NY Republicans are telling us is that they would then be 100% behind these two cretins. Makes me sick.
It also tells the RATS that trading a vote or two for some choice pork, and taking out Pataki's national knees will neutralize the NY Republicans, giving Hitlery the favorite daughter status that she needs for her upcoming run, and assuring Chuckie Cheese that he can coast to reelection.

"The Republican Party will take off the gloves when it comes to Hillary and Chuck because it's clear that they've had little success in getting anything done for New York," a senior GOP official told The Post."
Hopefully the Feds will follow suit and finally prosecute her for her crimes.
IF THE FEDS DON'T PROSECUTE HER SHE WILL RUN FOR PRESIDENT SOMEDAY.

I think 9/11 taught NY the true Clinton legacy.
It won't be that hard to get Hillary out. After her senate election, most said they didn't care for her, but felt "she had connections" and "could bring good things to NY."
They were wrong. They know that now and would not vote for her again.
Schumer is pretty clean (NY history and scandle wise). A socialist leftie, yes, but in NYC that alone wouldn't hurt him.
To: Liz
BTW, I remember seeing a national poll about people running for the presidency. "Who would you like to see as president?" Hillary only got about 30% of that vote. She was way down the list.
An approval rating poll had her the same as her "husband." About 32%.
Maybe the hard core socialist Democrats want her, but America as a whole doesn't.
Hillary is not as popular as the left makes her sound. It's Marxist politics. Tell a lie often enough, and people begin to believe it.
The best thing to do to a Democrat is expose them for what they are. They'll lose every time.
