Very good insights.

France is like the beautiful High School cheerleader who often treated her fellow classmates to her derision because they weren't as pretty or popular as she and then grew up to be fat and lazy and shows up trying to run the class reunion. Everyone else grew up and she's still living in a High School fantasy.

To both I would say, "Grow up, accept reality, the world doesn't revolve around you no matter how much you think it should."

I don't think they ought to be allowed to join at the last minute. After throwing marbles under the feet of our Sec of State, after insulting our president, I think they should just be told "thanks, but no thanks. You don't have anything to offer anyway". That would really put them publically in their place.

When they decide to act like honorable humanbeings they can ask to rejoin the rest of the world, until then, shun them.

This is what's so funny about a Franco-German alliance! How long do you think that's going to last???

Well, the Holy Roman Empire arose when Charlemagne conquered Germany. It was destroyed a thousand years later when Napoleon conquered Germany.

One way or another, France and Germany always seem to wind up bound at the hip, despite all their differences and centuries of animosity.
