I also think the Leftist French and Germans are motivated in part by a desire to weaken a conservative American president.

Our "allies" began turning on us a long time before war in Iraq was even a possibility. Remember when the U.S. got kicked off the Human Rights Commission? That was unprecedented. And it was our "allies," not the rest of the world, that did it. That's because the nominees for the Commission are determined by region. The "western" allies left the U.S. out of the list of nominees. They did us in.

The reason is that the U.S., under Bush, suddenly began thwarting their globalist, radical leftist agenda. The Clintons played along on everything, except the very high profile stuff, or stuff that required Congressional approval.

Remember when the EU punished Austria for electing conservatives?

They started doing the same thing to the US not long after Bush was elected, and it became clear the Bush administration was the opposite of the Clintons on sovereignty, socialism, and social issues. The business with Iraq just gives them an opportunity to do it in a more damaging way.
